Chapter 3: Change In Plans

August POV

After Cali finished crying, we walked into science class. Second period went by pretty quickly. Her class wasn't boring, we just did a bunch of experiments and took a few notes. I was sitting in my seat and I heard Cali say "Leave me alone!" I turned around and called her name and saw her with the dude that give me a dirty look last period because waved at me. I told to come sit with me and she did. We talked for the rest of class that we weren't doing experiments.

The bell rung and we walked to 3rd period, we both had gym. She called Christy because her gym bag was locked in Christy's car. Trey brought her bag to her and we walked to gym. Everyone got changed and we started doing stretches and I saw how big Cali's ass was until I saw her in those tights. Damn, who wouldn't want that. It was time to run so we talked as we jogged and she started to open up a little about her past.
"So how'd you end up in Chicago?"
"My mom past away 4 years ago and I came to stay with my grandparents."
"So you're the only child?" I'm wonder if she'll tell me about her daughter.
"Well, I'm my mother's only child but my dad's second child." Her voice is so light but it cute for her though.
"So do you have a brother or sister?"
"A brother, but I never talk about him because he's dead. I lost him back in NOLA. He was shot in his chest 7 seven times."
"I lost my brother in NOLA, too but he took 6 bullets to the head. He left behind 3 gorgeous little girls. They're my life, man."

She smiled at me and we continued talking. I know her favorite color, favorite food, favorite restaurant and where she likes to hang out, but she never explained how she ended up with her daughter. I wanted to know that specifically. Maybe she just wasn't ready to tell me all of that. She told me about her ex, Daryl and he was one of those stupid niggas that did a girl wrong. The nigga she gave chance after chance and he continued to let her down.

By the time we finished running, the coach told everyone to change and go to lunch. When I changed, I walked out the locker room and waited for Cali. She walked out 5 minutes and asked was I ready to go and a nigga was hungry. We walked to the cafeteria to meet everyone but I had a change in plans for me Cali. She told me that she had a free period after lunch and I did too. I wanted to do something with her and maybe she would open up more and tell me about her daughter.

I told the crew that I was gonna take Cali with me, while she went to the bathroom. They all agreed, told me to have fun and left. I waited as Cali walked over to me.
"Where did everyone go?"
"I told them we would meet them there," I lied.
"Ok, well I have to go pick up Kalani, my daughter because she has a doctor's appointment at 2 p.m. So I'm going to take my car"
"Nahh ma, let's take my car and I'll drive yall to the doctor's office after lunch. Come on"

We ran to my grey Range Rover and hopped in.
"Wow Alsina, nice car!" She giggled.
"Thank you, Cali" I chuckled.
"Wait I need to get something out of my car." I got out and quickly ran to pure all white Range Rover. She back over my car and got in. I pulled off and she got suspicious.
"Wait, Olive Garden is the other way. Where we going?"
"Just enjoy the ride." I smiled at her. She leaned back in the seat and started texting someone. I wanted to see who she was talking to but that's not my position yet, but it will be there soon. That's a fact.

I drove to Chili's and parked. I didn't want Olive Garden today. I ran around to help get out the car but she had already hopped out. She looked me and I stared back for a lil while.
"Are we going in?" she snapped me out of my trance.
"Uhm yeah, come on."
We walked in, got a booth, and sat down across from each other so both of us had one chair to outselves. I started talking to break the awkward silence.
"So you never told me how you ended up with your daughter." She paused and took a deep breath.
"I don't really like talking about it, but I'll tell you I guess."
"If you don't wanta talk about it, then you do have too." I didn't want to make her tell me.
"No, I need to get these feelings out of me. I need to talk to someone about this so I'm going to trust you."

When she said that, I knew she was starting to let me in a little more. I wanted her so bad and wanted show her more to a nigga than she already knew.
"Ok. Let's order first though."
She smiled. "That sounds good."

We ordered and we got on our phones for a while. She got a call and walked away from the table. She ran to back the table panicking.
"August, I need to go get Kalani, now!"
"Arrd, lets go!"

I hopped up and found our waiter and told him to make our to-go and add 2 skillet cookies. I ran out and I hopped in the car. We drove to the daycare and parked.
"I'll be right back!" she hopped out.
