Avery's POV
I sat in the beating Cali sun in my new Triangl bikini with my long light brown hair tied up in a messy bun. I heard my phone buzz on the table next to my lounge chair. My soul sista/ best friend, Serena Hartford had snapchated me. I opened and saw a selfie of her in her grandparents' house making a pouty face with the caption "PRAY 4 ME!". I laughed and sent her a selfie back of me with furrowed eyebrows with the caption " GET HERE SOON! I NEED SOMEONE AS WEIRD AS ME". She soon replied with an ugly selfie and a "will do :)". Before I could reply back, I heard someone open the gate to the pool I was laying next to. "Weird..." I thought " No one ever comes over here except for me (that's why I lay out here)" . I heard the sound of flip flops coming closer until the person turned the corner and came into view, and boy was it a view! The mystery flip flop wearer turned out to be a gorgeous, almost 6 foot guy that had dark brown hair that matched his big brown eyes and a totally ripped, lightly tanned body that was only covered by swim trunks that hugged his hips perfectly. Luckily, my RayBan sunglasses hid my widened eyes and saved me from utter embarrassment. When the boy finally looked up from his phone he was startled by my presence "Oh! I didn't realize anyone was out here I'll just-" "No!" I exclaimed a little too eagerly " I mean it's cool if you stay out here, I don't mind" . I mentally kicked myself for being such a dork. He smiled and plopped down in the chair next to me, set down his stuff, and stuck his hand out. "I'm Dylan," he said. My sunglasses sank down to the brim of my nose to reveal my hazel eyes. "Dylan," I repeated " as Dylan O' Brien, the famous actor staying here for the summer?!" He laughed and then replied " I guess so,". " Oh my gosh! Hi I'm Avery. I had no idea that the rumors were actually true!" I said as i shook his hand. "Yeah, my mom thinks I need time off from acting to just chill and get rid of stress."he answered. I nodded, scared to respond because of the likely chance that I would either scream and totally fangirl or say something stupid if I dared to open my mouth. He turned back to his phone and soon an awkward silence filled the air. I grabbed my phone with the intent to turn on some music when suddenly I got a text message from my sister, Holli:
sista sista: hey, we r going to dinner @ Dingo's in 45 min come up & get ready
me: K be there in 5
sista sista: btw i can c u from the balcony, nice man candy (;
me: shut up
I turned off my phone and started to stand when I came to the awful reality, my butt was stuck in the chair. My thoughts consisted of the following: Really Avery?! The one time there's a cute boy! What the hell aM I GOING TO DO?!!! FRICK MY LIFFFEEE! It was clear I had only one option: to ask Dylan, the Dylan O'Brien whom I had met only 20 minutes ago, for help getting my ass out of a beach chair. "Hey Dylan.." I said timidly. "Yeah," he said not looking up from his phone. "I know we just met, but will you help me get my butt out of this chair," His eyes immediately shot up and looked at me. I smiled weakly and my face turned a deep shade of red. His expression turned from shock to a smile, then he cracked up. I started laughing too. "heyyy it's not that funny" I said giggling. After like 5 minutes he finally stopped laughing and grabbed my ahnd and pulled me out with one strong tug. My tiny body was forced out of the chair and landed on the concrete inches from Dylan's . My eyes trained onn his chiseled jaw and finally met his eyes. He smiled and I blushed and moved my eyes down to my feet. My mind suddenly refocused and I started packing my items back into my beach tote. I suddenly felt a hand on my arm. I turned around and saw Dylan "Soooo, since I helped you out of an evil beach chair, I get something in return right?'' he smiled cheekily. " Sure, I guess. Name it." I said a little suspicious. "Your number." he responded with a wink. I blushed. "Okay, but only if I can have yours," I said surprisingly cooly. "Deal." he said as we swapped phones.
I walked towards the lobby with a smile I couldn't erase and butterflies in my stomach. I pushed the button for the elevator and waited. My phone soon buzzed with a text message from a contact I knew had to be Dylan.
the most amazing person ever <3: miss u already pool buddy
Attached was a selfie of him pouting in front a row of empty chairs. How was it possible that he was still cute while trying to be ugly?! I was about to respond when the elevators opened to reveal a P.O.ed Holli. She grabbed my arm and yanked me into the elevator. She said only one thing the whole elevator ride: " I'm only forgiving you because he is really hot." I laughed and gave her tense, cross-armed body a huge hug.
A/N: Sorry this is a little cheesy I promise it will get better I just had to get it started :)
