ABUJA, NIGERIA.

Sadiya had arrived the hospital, hours after receiving a calling from there, just three days into her break.

An underlying feeling lingered; Rita officially hated her. For reasons she did not want to bother racking her brain for. But at least she would not have to run into Doctor Nusaiba in the hallways or lobby. The previous three days if she could say, were sort of a peaceful period for her. Her relationship with Mahreen was better than that of the first time they'd met again in years.

It was on a slow pace, but they would get there eventually.

Her brother, Rayan, was a usual topic of their conversations. At first, Sadiya would try drifting her thoughts off her family, but it was only like a difficult task to carry on with. Mahreen however, understood the confliction laid in her friend. No matter how angry she posed to be, blood was surely thicker than water. Sadiya in her previous three days in the apartment, had gotten herself busy with his family. Her father's family.

Yes, he had a family with the woman he cheated on her mother with. But that was not all – there was more to it. He had three kids from what she saw on the internet. Again, yes, two of the trio happened to be busy persons on the social media platforms. Her father's well-known construction company, being the cherry on top.

His first child with Nailah was Nur, his name and net worth was more constant than his picture on the internet. There was not much on the 28-year-old. Just that as they had known from fifteen years back, he was conceived way before she left Kano for Abuja with her mother.

Her father's second son and child was Imran; the stark opposite of his brother. There was a lot on him compared to Nur. Although he wasn't in the family business, he did not maintain his stance on his roots. From what she gathered from the public's gossip page, his and Nur's relationship was not as strong. Nothing like that of siblings'. Her half-sister, Jasrah, was the female version of the second. A wild influencer with a digital fan base.

The first of them all, Rayan, kept his life simple. But to her, he seemed to be doing well with his life – no trauma, solitude, dark circles, and the likes of it. Their father seemingly had planned out his life for him, and he was doing just fine while she went through what she did. Locked secrets in the back of her mind. Her entire past was another secret itself. Even her profession used to be a secret – hers and his. Only they, knew of it.

"Hi," she greeted softly at a lady laid on the hospital bed. The patient smiled back, yet little, it was faux that the doctor looked past it. "Hey, doctor."

"So, how are we feeling today, Aisa? Any pain, nausea, or discomfort?"

Aisa shook her bandaged head, red-rimmed eyes stared back at the doctor. Her heart could not help ache for the lady. Amnesia was not quite a usual case for Doctor Sadiya, albeit a medical practitioner for years, she only could not get used to heart-aching conditions on her patients. You could say she might be used to it all, but sometimes, man can't always take it all at once. Especially when it got a bit too much.

"Just a little headache and queasiness."

As the doctor checked her, she nodded at the words. "That's fine, it's normal after surgery, most especially long ones." She stood back, "however, everything seems to be pretty alright here," she said to Ramlah who was alone with Aisa in the suite, maintaining her kind and comforting smile.
