"Kasura!"
Jake raised his hand to show Kasu where he was. Kasu walked over to him, avoiding the touch of the multiple people who walked past him. Streams of kids were going to their lockers to get their backpacks and there was loud chatter echoing through the hallways.
Kasu tilted his head.
"How are you?" Jake said.
"Good."
"Can I ask a favor?"
"Depends."
A girl almost stumbled into Kasu, but he stepped sideways to avoid her. Jake raced to catch her, giving Kasu an accusing gaze. After making sure the girl was okay, Jake continued talking.
"So, our club needs one more person to make an even fourteen members. Wanna join?"
A possible. Jake was trustworthy enough to not lie to harm, and there was no chance of him harming Kasu.
Kasu nodded. He could check it out and then leave, as his job was at 4 pm. And if it was interesting enough, he could join in on another day.
Jake held a triumphant smile.
"Follow me!"
After maneuvering through the hoards of students trying to leave the school, they arrived at a room. Jake pushed the door open, revealing twelve people and a teacher. They were sitting on the mat, with tiny beads and cut strings littered over the floor. The sudden sound of the door opening made the students look up, the peace that was in the room breaking.
A boy looked at the unfamiliar face entering the room and placed a box of beads in Fenix's hands, a welcoming gift for new members.
"New member?" the boy said.
Kasu nodded. "I will look around, then leave in ten."
"What?!" Jake whined. "You said you were going to join!"
Jake threw his hands up in anger.
"I have a job at 4. I said I'll join, I never said I'll participate."
"Participating comes with joining. Stop trying to avoid your duties." Jake berated Fenix.
Jake put his hands on his hips, giving Kasu a look. Kasu took it as resignation and turned to the door.
"Sorry. I'll join next week."
"You better."
Kasu joined the others on the carpet, crossing his legs while sitting down.
The same boy gave him instructions on what to do. "We're learning a new way to string beads. You can look at what we're doing, try it for a few beads, then do the rest at home."
Kasura picked up a black string from the box, watching the others string their beads with intense concentration. They did some magic weaving and then pulled the two strings to make a beautiful knot. Kasu didn't know how to copy them.
"Did you get how to do it?" a girl asked. She put her necklace down and put a bead on Kasu's string.
"No," Kasu admitted.
"That's okay. I'll show it to you, but slower." The girl did the magic again. Tying the bead here and then pulling it there and then pulling the two strings to make a beautiful pattern.
"I need to leave now."
Kasu pretended to check his watch in an alarmed manner, not wanting to figure out how to do the magic pattern on the string.
"Okay! I'll see you next time. I hope you got how to do it." The girl waved goodbye.
Jake spotted Kasu sneaking out of the room. "Kasura! You're leaving already?"
Kasu nodded. "There is traffic."
"I understand. I'll drop you off." Jake got up from the floor, leaving his necklace for someone else to do.
Kasu and Jake walked down the hall, keeping a silence between them. Kasu was finally free when they came to his car, a black Honda.
"Come next time, yeah?" Jake said, putting his hand forward.
Kasu shook his hand.
"I will try."
