"What's up?" Jason asked from behind Elliana.

"The sky." Elliana muttered. She had her nose in a book and barely even noticed she was talking.

"Watcha reading?" Jason asked, trying to read over her shoulder.

"Ah!" Elliana screamed, dropping her book.

"What?" Jason asked in alarm.

"You scared me!" Elliana said.

"I did?"

"Yeah! I didn't know you were there."

"But you answered me."

Elliana paused for a moment. She did a mental recap of the last thirty seconds.

"Right." She said. She opened her book again.

"Hello?" Jason said.

Elliana screamed and dropped her book again. This time Jason laughed.

"You really are in a different world." Jason laughed.

"Little Women is just really good." Elliana said.

"What's that?" Jason asked.

Elliana gasped. "Only the best book ever!" She said.

"Never heard of it." Jason said.

"Really? It's very popular."

"I don't get out much."

"Why?"

"Well, being part human, we can live in pretty much any type of water, unlike the actual animals. But if we don't go near water once per hour, we can get really sick."

"Oh. That's gotta suck."

"Yeah."

That ended the conversation. Elliana went back to reading. After about a minute, she shut her book and looked back up at Jason.

"Wait, why are you here?" Elliana asked.

"I don't know. I had nothing to do." He shrugged.

"Why do you only ever come at night?" Elliana asked.

"A mutant crocodile walking the streets?"

"How do you do the teleport thing?"

"What is this, an interrogation?"

"Just getting in some questions."

They sat still for a while. Jason opened his mouth to say something, but then shut it.

"You ok?" Elliana asked.

"Do you... have any..." Jason started.

"What?"

"Uh... food?"

"Sure. I can make you some tea."

"No it's... different."

"How different?"

"Um... recently... I've sort of been having cravings. For meat. And um... the circle of life... and we've all decided to be vegetarians, but..."

Elliana nodded. "Sure. I can grab you some steak. You can take as much as you want." She said.

Elliana got up and walked back into her penthouse. She entered her pantry and grabbed a plate of leftovers from her dinner.

"You can microwave this. It might not be enough, so I can go get you some from downstairs." She said.

"What, do you have a personal restaurant?" Jason asked.
