Chapter 6 | Hangover

Maeve woke up to the sound of her alarm clock beeping. She rolled over and hit the Stop button, but the noise continued. She groaned, picking up the alarm clock, and opened the battery compartment, struggling to take out the batteries. The beeping still rang in her ears, making her headache much worse. She rubbed her temple with her index fingers, sighing.
"I am never drinking again," She mumbled, ripping the covers off her and then standing up.
The only thing Maeve could remember about the night before was Jayla and Maeve talking to Maya and Dacre about the whole Austin situation and that Jayla wanted to go to the club with Maeve and Maya as a goodbye party for finishing up her scenes in Do Revenge. She didn't even remember coming home.
She slowly walked out of her room, rubbing her eyes, trying to get used to the light.
"Mornin' weirdo," Maeve heard a voice from the living room, making her jump and let out a short squeal. She put a hand to her heart, sighing, after seeing who was there.
"My god, Jay! You nearly scared me to death," She exclaimed.
Jayla chuckled. "Sorry,"
"What are you even doing here?" Maeve asked, but as soon as she finished her sentence she saw Maya in the kitchen, popping Excedrin into her mouth, and then taking a sip of water.
"Wait no, let me rephrase that question," She said holding a hand up as a sign for the others to not talk. "What are you both doing here?"
"Wow, you must be really hungover," Jayla stated.
Maeve just glared at her.
"Here, I'll give you both the short story," She glanced between Maya and Maeve. "We went to the club to celebrate me finishing my Do Revenge scenes and you guys got hella drunk," She laughed. "Well, maybe I shouldn't say hella but, you guys had a few more drinks than usual. Anyways, I drove you guys back here because, surprisingly, I only had one beer. And then you guys probably went to go puke and pass out."
"What do you mean probably? Do you not remember?" Maya asked.
"No, I left a bit after I dropped you guys off here to go back home and change, and when I came back you were passed out on the couch, and so was Maeve, but she was in her room."
Neither of the two girls responded, they just stood there staring at Jayla, trying to recall anything happening last night, but couldn't.
"Ok..." Maya started. "Anyways... Maeve, do you want some Excedrin?"
"Oh, yes please," Maeve sighed in relief as Maya handed her a water bottle and some Excedrin.
"Thanks," She mumbled before putting the pain reliever in her mouth.
"No problem, hot-shot."
As Maeve was swallowing her water she saw a glimpse of Jayla looking between Maya and Maeve with a smirk. Maeve had seen Jayla do this before ever since she announced her feeling for Maya to Jayla, and at this rate, she wished she hadn't.
"Shit," Maya cursed, looking at her watch. "I've got to go meet up with my dad. Sorry guys." She frowned.
"No, it's fine," Maeve smiled.
"See you guys later!" Maya waved and then shut the door behind her.

"This club is like a living headache," Maeve groaned as she covered her ears to block out the loud music and screaming people.
"You'll get used to it after about five shots of Vodka," Jayla protested.
"Sure" Maeve rolled her eyes.
"What would you ladies like this evening?" Said one of the bartenders named Dave, which Maeve had figured out by looking at his name tag.
"A Long Island Ice Tea, please" Maeve said with a smile.
"And for you two?" He asked, pointing at Maya and Jayla.
"An Aunt Roberta, and she would like five shots of Vodka," Maya said pointing at Jayla with a cheeky smile, bringing up the earlier conversation.
"She's kidding," Jayla glared at Maya. "Just a beer, please"
"Ok, coming right up."
And with that, the bartender walked away to go mix up their drinks.

Maeve was on her way to work with a massive hangover and about two hours of sleep. She was starting to really regret going to the club. The only neutral thing about today was that she was starting to remember some things from last night.
