Chapter 1

Eleanor's POV

Sighing, I pulled my purple blanket above my head and tried to ignore the incessant ringing of my mobile phone vibrating on my bedstand beside me.

"Go away..." I moaned as I reached out one hand to silence the call.

'Peace and quiet,' I thought satisfied.

I am so naive.

Just a minute later, my phone rang again and even Calum's voice blasting from my phone melodiously couldn't brighten my dark mood.

"What," I spat without checking the caller ID, "this had better be worth waking me up Saturday morning."

"ELEANOR JOHNSON, HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY! ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE LATE FOR OUR TEAM EVENT!!!"

Shyt.

"Uhh...Mr Adams, I'm not late, I'm on the bus!" I spluttered out the first thing I thought of.

"And which stop are you at?"

"Oh, the stop before school, yes...I'm alighting!" I squeaked as I pulled on denim shorts and a black tank top. Wait, what did I just say?

"Then I expect to see you in 5 min, Miss Johnson, team captain?" Mr Adams demanded in his booming voice.

"Yes-" I was cut off as he hung up on me rudely and I stared at my phone in shock: 9:30 am, I am sooo screwed.

I grabbed my wallet and track jacket before dashing out the house and hopping on the first bus which would take me to school. Ugh, school. ON A SATURDAY.

I ran like my training had trained me to to the school parade square and arrived just a minute before the official start of the school carnival. I sneaked behind the lemonade stand, hoping to stay undercover. Phew.

"Miss Johnson, I expected a greeting." a voice demanded from behind me.

I sighed, it was gonna be a long day.
