Prologue

The boy grabbed his little sister, Kiara’s, hand.

“Come on we can make it,” he whispered to her.

                “I’m scared,” she sobbed.

“So am I,” he shuddered as he heard the pounding steps that sounded more like a wolves steps than a humans. The scratching claws against the mall’s tiled floors. The blood curdling screams made his little sister jump. He pressed her against the wall, almost hitting the toilet. His instinct was to block her from danger by keeping his body in front of hers, shielding her from the face he could imagine breaking through the bathroom stall door at any second. One, two… THREE. He counted over and over again in his mind expecting the snarling face at three each time. One…

Then he heard it. The sound of another set of pounding steps getting closer and closer and a crash as it smashed right through the boys bathroom door. TWO. The monster ripped into the stall with it’s raging teeth, and within one bound was on top of them. Three.
