It was late night. Floors glinted against golden, dangling chandeliers, floral fragrance danced through the air. There was a faint smell of sweets and chocolate (it was killing Yuuya to ignore it and focus on what he had came for. He had already ate before the mission, he told himself repeatedly, and was not even the slightest hungry. Not at all.)

So far, a pearl necklace tucked in his pocket, a golden pocket watch heavy inside his chest pocket. Not much, unless you accounted the diamonds decorating the lid of the pocket watch. Then it was an okay steal, but not close to good enough.

The Masquerade Ball was a thief's heaven. Necks and wrists were covered in gold, precious metals, glimmering jewels. Masks limited sight, and the ability to recognize who was present at the ball—a serial killer could be right beneath their nose, and no one would know.

But Yuuya wasn't a serial killer. He was a thief—and he prided himself on being quite a good one. Known as "The Phantom", he was well-known for being an utter nuisance. Yuuya thought he couldn't have said it better himself.

That was when Yuuya spotted a glimmery, diamond chain, resting on someone's collarbones. Perhaps it would be a bit difficult to steal, though. The wearer was surrounded by people. Yuuya muttered a curse, eyes darting around for any way to grab the necklace. He needed it.

"It seems as if the goddess of victory is on my side..." Yuuya murmured, a small smirk curling the corner of his lips as he noticed the owner of the necklace excuse themself, heading towards the gardens. Good. Yuuya had already scanned the palace, and it seemed the gardens weren't too crowded. Most people were inside the ballroom, for that was where the glamour was.

Yuuya wasn't sure why the wearer of the diamonds chain was heading to the gardens in the first place, but he was too hypnotized by the way the tiny diamonds shimmered in the light, so flashy and...probably worth plenty. He almost felt hungry for the steal (or maybe that was the ever persistent food that Yuuya had to mentally strangle himself to stay away from.)

Yuuya flipped on his most charming smile as he strolled into the gardens. The moon gleamed overhead, a lily white moon, reflecting in the little fountain in the middle of the garden. There were well decorated tiles around the fountain, and surrounding the tiled area were lush greens, the grandest, most exotic flowers you could see.

White, pink, and purple were the color of most of the flowers, but there were plenty of red roses as well. Yuuya saw his target sitting at the foot of the fountain and finally took the time to examine them, when he decided they were female.

Wearing a long, crimson, fitted dress, that was slightly paled in the darkness, his target seemed interested in tracing hearts with his finger in the water, ripples flowing through the fountain gently. The spray of the fountain was slight, and didn't do much to dampen the target.

Yuuya approached the female and the fountain, fitted dress shoes tapping gently against the tiles as he ripped a dark red rose from a bush, his gloves preventing him from damaging his skin because of the thorns.

"A beautiful rose for a beautiful lady."

The female turned around, and Yuuya's breath caught in his throat. He had tricked and flirted with a large number of girls, but this one had to take the cake. No part of their face was spared from an alluring beauty, thick eyelashes, dark lips, and the most...unique shade of dark pink eyes. Her hair was swirly and touched her shoulders, hues of pink and purple. Though the colors weren't light, they still somehow didn't clash.

"How charming." came the reply, and Yuuya's breath caught in his throat. "But I'm not a lady."

"W-What? But you're...wearing..." Yuyua stammered, gloved hand reaching to cover his dropped jaw.
