This Is Me

I, Christopher Nunez, am the type of guy who you will not want to be on my bad side. I am cold as the winter weather, and scary as a blizzard. That’s because I was born on December 25th of 1994 in the Dominican Republic. I lived there for 15 years of my life with my mom Yanet, and my two little brothers, Brian and Chrisbraylis. I had a good childhood. My dad was a college graduate. It allowed my family and me to live a good life. When I was eight years old, my parents started having financial problems. They lost their house, car, and properties. We had to move into a smaller house, and live without all the privileges we had before. No big house with a pool, nice car, private school, and expensive clothes. My dad could not handle having to settle for less, so he decided to leave my mom, my two little brothers, and me alone. He moved to the United States. At that time, my mother was not working, so we had to move to my grandmother’s house, where we did not have to pay rent just help out with some bills. My mom, Yanet, started doing different type of businesses at home, so she could support my two little brothers and me. Living in the Dominican Republic was a great experience. It taught me a lot of things, how to be independent and the meaning of a real friendship.

When I was 15 years old, I made the decision to move to the United States with my dad. Coming to the United States as a teenager was not easy at all. I did not know English, or anyone. I basically had to start all over again. When I first came here, I did not go to a regular high school. I started in a program for second language learners. After six months of being in there, they gave me a test to see if I was ready to go to a regular high school. I passed the test, so I transferred to the Performing and Fine Arts High School in Lawrence, MA where I completed my junior and senior year of high school.

I am currently attending to Middlesex Community Colleges as a full time student majoring in Business administration. I am part of the Student Union Government Association and Middlesex Activity Club. Being part of those clubs allows me to be more involved in what happens around campus, and I get to know students from my school. I am planning on transferring for the fall semester. My top four choices are St. John's University, Bryant University, UMASS Lowell, and Bridgewater State University. I also work two part time jobs, Market Basket and Home Depot. All of this may seem difficult, but it is not impossible. All you need is a lot of time management.

My life is not the greatest of all. I have been through many good and bad situations. I had to sacrifice to make it to where I am right now. I am glad it happened. It made me who I am today, an independent young man. I will continue to do well in school and work hard. I am not giving up on my dreams, and will not stop until I reach to the top. Remember, I, Christopher Nunez, am the type of guy you will not want to be on my bad side.
