Devi gulped, her chest tightened, her heart started to pick up. She desperately stuffed the card into her backpack. But something else bit at the back of her mind. Who was on Paxtons card? And who was on Ben's? Devi slowly unzipped Paxtons backpack and slipped the red card into her hand. It read:

Paxton Hall-Yoshiada is most compatible with:

Samantha Edgars

98% Compatible

Devi shoved the card into her backpack. Of course he was the most compatible with one of the hot cheerleaders. Of course. But that still left one question unanswered. Whoever was on Ben's card had made Aneesa break up with him. Could it be her? Devi's mind flashed to Ben crumpling and shoving his card into the trash by Paxton's locker. She knew what she had to do.

The next day Devi made a beeline for the trash, digging her hands into it in an attempt to see what Ben had got. "Everyone look, the piece of trash dating Paxton is digging through her own kind! That's so hilar! Shira's obnoxious voice rang out through the hallway. Devi turned and glared. "You know what's hilar, your haircut. What, did you pay a kids r us worker to do it?" Devi snapped back. Shira gaped and fingered her short bob and Devi went back to shoveling through garbage. At last she found a crumpled piece of paper that looked just like the card Devi had. Devi gulped and turned it over.

Ben Gross is most compatible with:

Devi Vishwakumar

100% Compatible

Devi innerly groaned. How was she supposed to explain to her boyfriend that she was 100% compatible with the guy she had cheated on him with. Devi quickly put the card into her backpack. Paxton was standing at his locker watching her. "Hey big D? What's a-poppin?" Devi nervously asked. "My card is missing and if I'm seeing things right, you just dug someone else's out of the trash. What's going on Devi?" Seeing no other way to get out of this, Devi handed Paxton her card, his, and Ben's. Paxton's eyes narrowed as he took them in. "Really Devi? Right after you promised me to be perfect, I catch you digging through the trash trying to find out who Ben is compatible with? Tell me honestly, Devi, because I can't do this anymore. Who do you choose?" Devi's mouth opened but no words came out.

"Fine. You leave me no choice. I can't be with you when you still have feelings for someone else. Paxton shoved the cards back into her arms and stalked away. Devi stood, frozen. Paxton just broke up with her. Tears came to her eyes. "Wow David, you sure are a real heartbreaker." Came a familiar condescending voice. Devi looked over to see Ben. He had a comforting smile on his face. "I guess we both got dumped." He said. "I guess so." Devi said, her voice sour and upset.

Ben slowly walked towards her and gave her an awkward pat on the shoulder. "Wow Gross, real comforting." Devi sniffled. They stood frozen, inches apart. "Already moving on. I guess you never really cared about me." Said Paxton, his arms crossed. "Paxton, it isn't what it looks like." Said Devi, jumping away from Ben. "Really? Because I know exactly what this looks like." Said Aneesa, her eye's red and puffy. "Aneesa, I was just comforting her!" Said Ben. Aneesa and Paxton scowled and walked away, leaving Devi and Ben to exchange glances of shock and disbelief.
