Today was the day. Eloise and Tom had thrown all their belongings into one bag, enchanted to hold much more than it looked like it could. Eloise had no clue where they were going, she just knew that whatever they were looking for meant a lot to Tom. And so she unknowingly followed him into the darkness of some cave. Her hands fiddled with the necklace Tom had bought her and she smiled. He had never bought her something like this before and so she had already begun to cherish it more than anything. "We are getting closer," Tom said.

Eloise couldn't exactly see him, in fact, she could only make out the form of his body slowly approaching wherever they were entering. "What are you going to do with whatever it is you're looking for after you find it?" Eloise questioned him and they made their way through the rocky cave. Tom spoke after an eerie amount of silence. She wondered if her question had somehow ticked him off━ no, Eloise knew that her question for some reason had made him uneasy.

But why?

She did not know.

Darkness surrounded them, and plenty of small critters lurked in the shadows. Eloise gagged when she felt a spider crawling up her leg. This was not how she wanted to spend Christmas break, but she tried to stay optimistic. They had arrived at their destination, therefore they would be leaving soon. "Well, are you not going to get it?" Eloise was referring to the large pedestal in the middle of the circular and rocky cave. There was a small opening at the top of the cave, allowing the moonlight to spill in, its light reflecting off of the small locket on top of the pedestal. Deadly sharp-looking rocks guarded the pedestal, they almost resembled spikes Eloise noted.

"I have been dreaming of this for a while," Tom whispered. "That's great, can you please hurry now?" she shivered. Tom stared at her for a short while but quickly made his way through the obstacles. He snatched the locket and grinned. He seemed to be overjoyed, why didn't Eloise not feel happy for him? Her thoughts were running wild but she was able to come up with an answer.

There was something he wasn't telling her.
