It was probably a few days ago before Luna decided to move somewhere far away from the city. She was working in a huge company called the Joja Corporation. Their slogan "Join us. Thrive." is like a microchip that's been planted into everyone's head as they continue to work soullessly. Just sitting in front of a large computer screen, with a coffee mug on the side, which, who knows how much refills they get.
This woman, whose name is Luna. She is a 25-year-old woman who worked almost everyday, tirelessly. Not that anyone else didn't work as hard as she did, but not that it mattered anyway. Her hair was a mess, tied in... some sort of a bun? Who knows. She was finally able to rest for at least 5 minutes, until the secretary came up to her desk to see her.
"The boss wants to see you. He's complaining about the sales drop from... what do they call again?"
"Stardew Valley", Luna answered with a smug and annoyed look on her face. Obviously the secretary continued to banter her about the sales dropping before leaving her more stressed out than she already was. She laid her head back on the partition, tried to calm herself down. Took a few seconds break before a disaster. Once she was ready, she opened her drawer to pick up a notebook and pen, but saw a letter.
"Oh... Grandpa..."
That's right, Luna remembered her Grandpa words years ago before he passed away, and the unopened letter he left her.
"...and for my very special granddaughter: I want you to have this sealed envelope."
He said, as he handed the sealed envelope to little Luna.
"No, no, don't open it yet... have patience."
Luna stopped what she was doing and laid her chin on her arms on Grandpa's bed.
"Now listen close... There will come a day when you feel crushed by the burden of modern life, and your bright spirit will fade before a growing emptiness. When that happens, my dear, you'll be ready for this gift."
Luna nodded to his words. She felt his big yet weak palm on her head.
"Now, let Grandpa rest..."
That was the last time she ever heard her Grandpa's voice, before finding out that the next day, he died peacefully on his bed. Luna still teared up from the memory, but was still glad that she spent most of her childhood days with him before he passed.
"Grandpa, I think it's time," she said while she gripped onto the envelope tightly. Luna opened the letter, and read it :
♡♡♡
"Dear Luna,
If you're reading this, you must be in dire need of a change. The same thing happened to me, long ago. I'd lost sight of what mattered most in life... real connections with other people and nature. So I dropped everything and moved to the place I truly belong.
I've enclosed the deed to that place... my pride and joy : Harmony Farm. It's located in Stardew Family, on the southern coast. It's the perfect place to start your new life.
This was my most precious gift of all, and now it's yours. I know you'll honor the family name, my dear. Good luck.
Love, Grandpa.
P.S. If Lewis is still alive, say hi to the old guy for me, will ya?"
♡♡♡
A surprised look was surely shown in her eyes. Bright and sparkling. Luna didn't waste any time and quickly printed out her resignation letter that she had been preparing for months, packed her bags and left the letter on the secretary's desk. She left the building in a rush, but a smile was drawn clearly on her face, which caught everyone's attention.
"Grandpa, I'm coming home!"
She said with joy... yet so clueless of the challenge that will come her way.
