Anniversary Gift

Chapter 1

Confident, happy, resourceful, charming, helpful, and most importantly, someone with a strong will. These are only some of the things Serizawa loves about the sleeping beauty he holds tight in his arms at the moment. All of those are things he thought he could never be and never have, but Reigen patiently taught him that and more. For Serizawa, he wouldn't change a thing if it meant he can stay by his side forever.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. As much as he would love to rest longer, the sunlight shining through the curtains is a blaring sign to get up. The brunette ruffles Reigen's hair and slowly slips out of his embrace. "Today is our anniversary, and I wouldn't be anything without him." He thinks with a fond smile on his unkept face.

He heads to the kitchen as quietly as possible. The least he can do for his lover is make him something nice to eat. Although cooking isn't his strong suit. Contemplation of what to make doesn't last long. Blueberry pancakes, simple enough, but at least not boring. He moves tiredly to collect what he needs and actually put them to use. The first pancake doesn't turn out well, but that's how all first pancakes are.

Soon two plates are filled with delicious fluffy blueberry pancakes. Almost as if on cue, Reigen walks through the door, scratching his head. "I thought something smelled sweet." The blonde grumbles. Serizawa wants to say something cheesey like "The only sweet thing here is you." but ultimately decides against it.

Reigen steps forward and plants a chast kiss on him, a giggle escaping his lips as Serizawa's stubble tickles his chin. "Go wash up, quickly." He whispers in his ear. The brunette stutters through a yes and speed walks away. "It's only the morning and he's already so rowdy." He sighs with a smile and promptly sits down. One bite of the fluffy pancakes is enough to send him to heaven.

Almost as quickly as he left, Serizawa returns looking more refreshed. "Great, sit down and taste your improvement." He hums, shoving more into his mouth. Serizawa takes his seat across from him. "Are you sure you don't want to do anything special today?" He questions earnestly. He can't understand why he'd rather spend the day at home. Reigen swallows and sighs.

"Either way, I'd get to stay with you, and that's enough for me. We can do something special for the next one." He reassures and Serizawa thinks his heart might have skipped a few beats. Reigen always knew exactly what to say to make his face turn red. "You really are the sweetest thing here." He mumbles unknowingly. Reigen chuckles of course.

"Great, now hurry up and eat, I want to watch some movies." He proclaims with his usual bright, charismatic smile. Serizawa hurriedly scarfs his food down. Afterwards, the two settle down on the couch. Reigen leaning on Serizawa as though he were a pillow. Unsurprisingly, Reigen chose paranormal movies. If it were up to Serizawa, he'd like to stay in this pure bliss for longer.

Time flies fast as they watch a few movies and end up playing card games. They even receive a text from Mob wishing them a happy anniversary. Reigen orders pizza from Serizawa's favorite place. Pizza doesn't seem like something you'd eat on such a special day, but true junk food lovers would say otherwise. After lunch, Reigen hands over a small red box with a blue tie on it.

Despite saying he wanted to do virtually nothing, he of course still wanted to gift his amazing lover something good. Serizawa is of course is peeked with curiosity and carefully undoes the tie. When opened, he pulls a necklace out of the box. "Beautiful..." he muses, staring at the blue crystal with a purple hue. "It's... I baught it because it said it had spiritual properties. I carved it into a rain drop. It might have been a sloppy job, and not the smoothest, but I tried." He awkwardly explains. It's unusual for him to be anything less than confident.

Serizawa's eyes prick with tears as he's overwhelmed with emotions. "No no! It's perfect, you're perfect. I love it and you." He means it with all his heart. Reigen's worries seem to dissipate, a smile appearing as he looks at the teary eyed man with love. Serizawa reaches over the small table for a hug. Reigen complies by wrapping his arms around his neck. Seeing as of how it's already evening, Serizawa thinks now is a good time to make his moves.
