She watched the figures stride to the employees' back room, their expressions stone faced. From her vantage point, she couldn't see everything that was going on, so she tiptoed closer, keeping to the wall to avoid being sensed. She knew very well who, or what these boys were. She was trained to be one herself, though everything she learnt she wanted to throw away, to never remember them again. Despite this, her training kicked in, and she ducked low, crouching and moving to see what was happening. The boys walked into a walk-in closet of a kind, and appeared to be staring down at someone, the slightest hint of boredom and annoyance flickering across the closest one's face.

Aiko quickly slide herself to the other side of the hallway, to get a better view. Immediately, she could see a man sitting on the floor, his left leg and knee up, with his arm and hand lifted to shield himself. His other hand was planted firmly against the ground, ready to push himself back if necessary. The boys, all but one clad completely in black gear, silver and metal weapons glinting everywhere on their suits as though they were stars in the night sky. The other one wore a plain white mid-sleeve shirt, black pants and dark grey boots studded with sharp silver. He wore basic black fingerless gloves, and his hands were closed in loose fists. He had shaded brown messy hair, half of the back pulled up in a small ponytail. He leaned forward, grabbing the man on the floor and holding him there, whipping out a knife and holding it to his neck. As the boy leant forward, Aiko noticed something dangling and glittering from his throat. A thin chain, dangling a ring on the end of it. She recognised the ring, but couldn't place where she knew it from.

Something in her brain clicked. That ring – she knew it from somewhere, somewhere close to her heart. She knew it from someone, someone she can't quite remember. It's on the edge of her tongue, she knew them as well as she knew herself. Not them, but him. Him, who was there for her for her entire life. Him, who she'd devoted herself to find, when she lost him all those years ago. Him. Who was standing, right there, with the ring around his neck. The Nyrasti ring. The ring her father gave to her. That she gave to her brother. Her twin brother. Elijah.
