— Oh come on Augustine, I know you'll like where we're going to move.
— Sure, a nice town in the suburbs of Denver, you don't know how much it excites me.
— You'll make friends honey, and I don't know, maybe you'll meet a cute boy who will steal your heart.
— Don't be silly mom, children are a waste of time. I kept talking nonsense all the way with my mother, until from one moment to another I fell asleep, when we finally got there mom woke me up.
— Honey, wake up, we're here.
— Uhm? — get out of the car not so excited and ask
— what is our new house?
— Oh, it's the one in front of you, honey.
— Shit yes, I'm very stupid today.
Entering the house was not a big deal, not what I was used to, but I had to get used to it, after my parents' divorce nothing would ever be the same as before. I went up to what would be my room and I looked at it, it could be a nice room if I put my mind to it, some details of mine and it will be the most beautiful.
— This room certainly has potential, a couple of decorations and it will be more than perfect.
I spent all night decorating my talk with fake plants and cute things, until it finally fit, I was proud of the result.
—Augustine, come down to dinner honey!.
— I'm coming mother!
I ran downstairs as fast as I could and my mom had baked a little cake.
— I know it's not much of a daughter, but I want you to feel at home with your father, I know he's your favorite.
— I thank you very much mother, this makes me feel better.
— By the way! Good news, in the house next door there lives a boy about your age, he could be your friend.
— I'll think about it, not everyone deserves to be my friend. I said cutting a slice of cake.
— I also signed you up for school, the sooner the better, you'll start tomorrow Augustine, it's a nice school and you'll make lots of friends, rest assured honey.
— I highly doubt it, Mom.
I finished dinner and went up to my room, read a few books and started to think. . . Is a board game still a board game if you play it on the floor or in bed? Those kinds of questions don't let me sleep, I closed my eyes and it didn't take long for me to fall into a deep sleep.
— Augustine, wake up, you will be late for your first day of school!
— Five minutes more. I said sleepy.
— No more Five minutes to school.
I got up, washed my face and my teeth, put on a skirt and a white blouse, it really didn't look that bad. I went downstairs to have breakfast and my mother had already prepared everything, we got into the car clearly in the direction of school.
— Honey, it will be great! You should have fixed your hair, it's very messy.
— Mom, enough! I like the way I look.
And more of that nonsense, when I got to school I talked to a girl, a few courses younger than me, her name is Gwen. She took me to my classroom and helped me get to know the school, she is sweet.
— This is your salon Augustine.
— Thank you very much, Gwen, you told me, right?
— That's right and I have to leave you because otherwise I'll be late for class.
I said goodbye to Gwen and went to class, luckily the teacher hadn't arrived yet so I didn't have to introduce myself, I talked for a while and asked us to pair up, shit, I didn't have anyone. I guess I'll do it alone, until a curly-haired boy came up to me.
— Hi, you're new, right?
— Oh of course I am, have you seen me before? I replied sarcastically.
— Oh no, um. . I'm Finney Blake, nice to meet you.
— Augustine, Augustine Myers, it's a pleasure, Finney.
— Do you want to team up with me, Augustine?.
— Uhm, okay, I don't see why not.
