(TW: Spoilers, Mentions of hypnosis.)
So if you can't tell by the video, today I will be talking about a certain character from a certain movie....
That's right, I will be talking about Kaa the snake, from The Jungle Book movie, and what people have done to them. And before we start, Please don't go attack the people I mention on this chapter
(Note: I'm using They/Them pronouns for Kaa because Kaa's Gender keeps changing in different adaptations....)
-------
So, first of all...who is Kaa?
According to Wikipedia:
"In the books and many of the screen adaptations, Kaa is an ally of the main protagonist Mowgli, acting as a friend and trusted mentor or father figure alongside and . However, 's screen adaptations portray him as a secondary who attempts to eat Mowgli."
In the 1967 Disney Movie, "Kaa notices Mowgli in a tree one night and, rather than a serpentine dance, uses their hypnotic eyes to lull Mowgli into a deep sleep. Kaa nearly eats Mowgli before awakens nearby, notices them, and slaps them, awakening Mowgli. Kaa retaliates by hypnotizing Bagheera, though Mowgli pushes Kaa out of the tree, making them unravel violently. Kaa encounters Mowgli again later in the film and once again, hypnotizes him, this time using their song, "Trust in me", to lull him into a deep trance, though they must hide him when asks them if they've seen the boy. Shere Khan makes Kaa swear to tell him when he finds Mowgli and leaves, though Mowgli eventually wakes up and pushes Kaa out of the tree again."
So, you're probably wondering, "Maskie, What's wrong with the character?"
Well, I have nothing against Kaa, I actually love them. (Platonically) It's just that what people have done to them, all because of what Kaa did to Mowgli.
-----------
So, what have people done to Kaa?
Kaa is basically known for their hypnosis. I've noticed that a lot of people (mainly Deviantart) have been weirdly obsessed with it, and drew fanart of certain characters getting hypnotized by Kaa. But let me say this...
Kaa doesn't deserve this.
They don't deserve to be treated like this.
I feel like that a lot of people have been fetishizing snake characters, (like Mr. Snake, for example.) all because of what they did on one scene, and what their species is known for.
In my opinion, it's NOT okay to fetishize snakes or snake characters.
(Serpent and The Queen Cobras are very lucky that they don't have any fetish art...)

But that's all I have to say, remember to stay safe!
Bye-Bye!
