JADE'S POV

I went outside, made my way to the little bridge, and sat down, putting my feet in the water. It was cold but it felt really nice. I stared into space for a moment and enjoyed the sun beating down on my face. For some reason, I really loved being outside and in the sun. It was relaxing and peaceful. I was taking out of my thoughts pretty quick as Aiden came to sit next to me. He put his feet in the water too and we stared off together. It was silent and a little awkward. Neither of us really knew how to start a conversation. "So..." We both said at the same time. He chuckled and looked at me. "You go ahead." He says to me. "No, it's ok you go..." I said back to him. I was going to speak but we heard a fascinating noise. I turn to see Curly barking. But it sounded more like a turkey. "Um, so why does he sound like that?" I asked Aiden. He looked over at Curly and our dads and their friends were behind him in lawn chairs. "Well, he got his vocal cords clipped. Dad had to make the choice of putting him down or clipping his cords. He's part of the family. He has been around for a while." He says to me. I nod at him.

I kick my feet and listen to Aiden tell me about himself. He would make me laugh or I would catch him looking at me. It was nice to be around someone my own age.

Soon enough our moments were cut short by Keithie and Greggie screaming. Dad was bringing them out of the house over his shoulders. Becky came out as well. "Jade! Aiden come on!" I hear dad yell. I got up and my foot slipped and I almost fell in the water. Aiden had fast reflexes cause he grabbed my arm. He pulled me up. "Thank you." He nods at me. "Of course." We both got our shoes on and followed the others.

We went walking through the trees and we listen as Kurt told us all the crazy stuff they did as kids. I thought it was a little interesting that they rode in shopping carts and just crashed into something to stop themselves. Or aiming bottle rockets at each other and trying to hit each other in the face. I mean that's a very interesting way to hang out with your friends. My friends and I never did that.

Dad found a stick and Talked about building a fort. A rope on a tree came into his view as well. He ran over to it. "Rope on a tree baby. You know what that means." Eric says to the group. "We get to hang ourselves?" Charlotte comments. "Are you kidding me? You see a rope and a lake  that doesn't make you want to go nuts?" Dad said back to her. Eric steps up to be the first to go. He grabs the rope and gets on the top rock and swings from the rope. We all cheer for him. "Yeah, Dad!" Aiden yells from behind me. Eric doesn't drop and was all yelling at him to do that but he hits a tree in the process. He fell and rolled and hit things over and over. All of us commenting on it. "That was awesome!" Keithie exclaimed aloud. "Oh god, oh god my leg is broken..." He says as he came out from the bushes. I cover my mouth and hide my face in Aiden's chest. He held me close. The others gasped along with us. "It's a stick. I got you!" He said throwing the stick and dancing. 

"Daddy that bird is hurt," Becky says. "Oh my god. I'll go get a shoebox." Higgins went over to Eric. I went to the bird and tried to calm it down. "It's ok. I think its wing is just injured." IO told the others. 

AIDEN'S POV

After we got back to the house Jade helped Becky take care of the bird. It was then decided we would go have dinner.  Jade ended up changing into an oversized AC/DC shirt. I smile at the fact that she is a fan of them. We got to this place called Woodman. Apparently, our dads used to come here a lot when they were younger. Everyone was arguing over who sat where. I just sat next to Jade who was sitting next to Donna. Hey Lenny, remember when we come here late at night in high school after we got wasted." Higgins says aloud. "Shh..." Lenny says to him smiling a little. "What's wasted?" Donna asked aloud. Lenny looks at Higgins and says something quietly. "Uh wasted, uh kids...is something that happens when you have a hankering for ice cream." He says with a nice save. "Nice save," I mumble to myself and I see Jade giggle and look at me. I smile at her. "Oh I want to get wasted," Andre says Charlotte and Donna coming after him. "I want to get wasted." " I want to get wasted every single day of my life." I try not to smirk and Jade touches my arm and giggles a little. "I want to get chocolate wasted," Becky added in. "No, no you don't need to get wasted. It's ok." Roxanne added in.
