3/5 updates for today August 16, 2022.
When the time to get seeds from the ape king arrived, Jenny wished she didn't have to go. The drama and death that could unfold made for a great excuse to avoid it. If only she didn't need the seeds.
Jenny resolved her will and decided that she was going to change things. It couldn't be that hard. All she had to do was grab Bai and hold onto her. All problems solved. If she succeeded, maybe Shuu would get to live. Saving a life sounded like a nice thought to her.
Still, Jenny was a realist and kept her expectations low. Jenny brought Winston and Simon with her. Sieg went hunting and Mestor held down the fort. Jenny had warned them about Rosa, in case she picked a fight with them like she did with Parker in the original.
Jenny got quite a few looks as Simon carried her along. She felt like a child being carried around, but was slowly getting used to it. Winston kept his guard up, chasing away any males that got too close. He didn't really chase anybody, all he had to do was stare at them and they backed off.
Jenny was greeted enthusiastically by the ape king. Suppressing an urge to roll her eyes, Jenny responded politely, "Thank you for passing out the seeds today. They will be very useful." Jenny went with the 'kill with kindness' tactic as no male was immune to that.
The ape king was no exception. A genuine smile adorned his face as he listened to Jenny's words. Finding an appreciative female who knew what was good for her was rare and Bard enjoyed the gratitude shown to him. "Of course. It is part of my duty. Although you have not given birth yet, you will be welcome to receive wild seeds in addition to the rice. Assuming that you would like some."
Keeping her cordial attitude was easier since the ape king was the same. "I would. Thank you for your consideration," she replied.
Bard watched Jenny through eyes of appraisal. He started to feel that the female in front of him was similar to himself. She knew how to use her words to her advantage. Bard did not disparage that, in fact, he acknowledged her. Enough that his vigilance towards the female increased. Still, he accepted the words appreciation and went about his business.
Once the ape king left, Jenny relaxed. Winston and Simon had remained silent and watched. After she made sure that they were okay, Jenny looked around the area. Her eyes caught Parker's. She guessed Bai will be coming to say hello soon.
Once Bai attached herself to Jenny's company, the later made sure that the girl did not run off on her own. When she had to use the bathroom, Jenny excused herself too, bringing Winston along with her. She was not taking any chances, but she seriously had to pee. Babies really do push right on the bladder.
After they finished their business, Jenny nervously held on to Winston's arm while looking around. She saw several tigers, but none approached them. It was the right choice to bring Winston. Winston gave her a worried look and she tried to give him a reassuring squeeze. It wasn't until they made it back to the gathering did Jenny finally relax.
Jenny glanced at Bai repeatedly as if to make sure she wasn't seeing things. Did Jenny do it? Did she change an event? Jenny didn't let the excitement get to her yet. Until they were back home, she wouldn't believe it. The seeds were all passed out and she went to leave.
"Is something wrong?" Winston asked. He refrained from questioning Jenny since they were in the presence of too many others, but now they were mostly alone. "Is there something wrong with the other female?" Jenny's intense staring at Bai did not go unnoticed.
