*3rd Person POV*
5 years later...
The wedding would be starting any minute. Katie Manning stood in front of the full-length mirror and straightened her dress.
"Katie, sweetie, it's time," her father said, a sad smile on his face. Katie took a deep breath and stepped up to take her father's arm. They walked down the hallway together, stopping outside of the double doors to the chapel. Katie and her father let the flower girls and bridesmaids go first, and then it was time.
She stepped into the chapel, beginning what would seem like the longest walk in her life. She gripped her father's arm tightly as she looked up and made eye contact with her almost-husband, and in that moment...it happened. She could tell. It was only a slight shift in his expression, but Katie knew--he had remembered. Mark remembered Abi.
The doctor had predicted a "complete and total mental and emotional breakdown" if this were to ever happen, but the rest of the wedding went by without issue. When he remembered her, he only stood up straighter and looked more confident. It wasn't until later, when they were alone, that Mark told Katie:
"I remembered. All those years ago, in the hospital room, when you said her name--just for a split second, I remembered everything about her. And it was looking at you, today, as you walked down that aisle, that triggered that split second in my memory, that helped me remember everything about her. Thank you. Thank you so much, Katie.
"I love you."
