And Thus It Begins

Hiruzen Sarutobi the Third Hokage sat calmly in a chair as he waited for the clan heads and civilian council members to arrive for the meeting. His student, Jiraiya of the Sannin stood beside him with a bundle of cloth in his hands. Soon, everyone arrived, and the room was filled with whispers and murmurs of the events that had just taken place.

Hiruzen cleared his throat and immediately, the room went silent.

"As you all know," He began, "Our village has suffered greatly from the Kyuubi's attack. I would like to inform you all that the demon has been defeated."

The civilian council erupted into cheers, but the clan heads were deep in thought. Why Hiruzen informing them of this? Where was the Fourth Hokage? A horrible thought was lurking in their minds.

A man with long hair and white pupilless eyes was the first to spring the question, "Where is the Fourth Hokage? Has he been injured in the fight against the demon?"

Hiruzen looked down, "I'm sorry to inform you Hiashi-san, but the Fourth Hokage has sacrificed himself in order to defeat the Kyuubi."

The room was once again filled with shouts as people stood up demanding answers. Hiashi remained standing with an air of calmness but inside, he was shell-shocked. "How was Lord Fourth killed?" he asked, trying to keep his voice steady.

Hiruzen paused for a moment, thinking on how he should respond. "The Fourth Hokage used a forbidden sealing jutsu and with the cost of his own life, sealed the demon within a newborn child." he finally said, looking towards the bundle in Jiraiya's arms.

"Then the demon still lives! We must kill it at once." Fugaku, head of the Uchiha clan called out.

"This boy is the one thing from keeping the demon from coming back into the mortal realm, he should be treated as a hero and yet you say you want to kill him?" Hiruzen asked incredulously, "Fugaku, the seal that holds a kunai is not a kunai itself."

"This does not change the fact that the demon could break the seal and take control." Fugaku retorted.

"The seal was the creation of Minato himself, are you perhaps doubting his skill?"

Fugaku went silent as the Fourth's sealing prowess was known throughout the elemental nations.

"Besides, by killing the boy, you would be killing off Minato's only surviving legacy."

"The boy is the Fourth's son?"

Hiruzen looked towards Jiraiya, who turned the bundle in his arms around and revealed an infant with spiky blond hair, azure blue eyes, and whisker marks on his face. Everyone noticed the striking resemblance between him and the Fourth.

"This is not proof enough proof Hiruzen, perhaps the boy looks like the Fourth only by chance." A man half covered in white cloth said.

"The boy is the legitimate heir of Minato, Danzo," Sarutobi answered, "You may look at the blood tests later."

"If he really is the Fourth Hokage's son, then who is his mother?" A council member asked.

"His mother is Uzumaki Kushina of the Uzumaki clan, Konoha's Red Whirlwind." Hiruzen replied, "However, let us focus on the matters at hand, we will need to find a suitable home for young Naruto."

"I would be more than willing to integrate him into my ROOT division. The boy has great potential, being the son of a Hokage and a Jinchurikii." Danzo said.

Hiruzen gave him a cold stare. There was no way that he would subject Minato's only heir to the cruel and inhumane training methods of ROOT.

Then, Hiashi stood up. He was not going to let this opportunity pass by, the boy could be the key for the Hyuuga's gaining more power within the village. "I believe that it would be better for the boy to be handed over to the Hyuuga clan. While your ROOT ANBU are undeniably skilled Danzo-san, the boy may be influenced by the demon if he becomes devoid of emotion. The Hyuuga are numerous so the boy will have a large, loving family to look after him."
