I outright refused his offer. There's no way I was gonna help a criminal by hiding him in my house, no matter how handsome he may be.
That's what you're thinking I did, right? Sadly, you're wrong.
With my head placed on my palm, I behold the miracle unfold in front of me.
His pretty hands seem to have a mind of their own as he solves the questions of my assignment effortlessly.
Yes. I've accepted his offer. Was I going to regret it in the future? Most probably, but at least my assignment will be done. I'll become a part time charity worker and pay for this ill deed by saving people's lives.
"Done!" He looks up from the papers with a cute and adorable dimple smile.
"Umm...thank you." I whisper, going through the answers.
"So, the man that you live with...when's he going to return?" he speaks staring at mine and Jimin's picture on the wall.
"My brother? He'll be back around midnight, probably."
"Your brother...is he a cop?" He asks, slight doubt and apprehension seeping into his voice.
"Oh no!" I assure him.
He lets out a sigh of relief, before I continue, "But his friend who's staying with us is."
His eyes immediately widen and he sits straight, aiming his gun directly at me. "You tricked me."
I shake my head, trying to prove my innocence. "Don't worry; they'll probably go to sleep as soon as they come home. Besides, you're only staying for a few days so it won't be a problem."
"Hmm." He mutters but he still looks doubtful. "Then, where am I gonna hide?"
"In the laundry basket?" Namjoon makes a cringing face at my suggestion and I stop my smile just in time.
I bite my lips as I think about what will happen if they find Namjoon here....Namjoon might tell them that I'd agreed to help him hide in exchange for my math assignment. Moreover, Hobi will probably put me in jail as an accomplice for helping a criminal...I'll be doomed.
The sound of keys and male chatter jerks us both. Namjoon makes a run for the laundry basket, forgetting his gun on the table.
I contemplate if throwing it in the toilet would be a good idea, but no, then the guys would find out that a thief's hiding in our house. Cursing the clumsy thief in my head, I pick the gun up and opening the lid of the laundry basket, shove it inside.
"Ow!" Namjoon winces in pain and looks at me with a betrayed look as the gun hits his head, but I heartlessly close the lid and walk towards the door to greet the guys.
I immediately hug Jimin. He laughs and wraps his arms around me, giving me the feeling of warmth and comfort that I longed for at the moment.
"Where's my greeting?" Hoseok's cheerful voice makes me giggle. He's wearing his cop uniform, looking handsome as usual. Despite him being a lot older than Jimin, the two were good friends.
Hobi's been living at our place as Jimin and I didn't let him rent a place. Due to his sunshine personality, he became a good friend of mine as well. He's more like my second brother.
We both do our secret handshake, making Jimin roll his eyes.
"Come on. I'll bring warm milk for both of you in your room." I take a step towards the kitchen but their voice stops me.
"No need. We're not sleepy right now. Besides, the weather's really nice. Why don't we play a game or something?" Jimin suggests, causing me to stumble.
"Good idea!" Hoseok chimes in before sitting down. Why does it have to be today that they both decide to be night owls?
This was the beginning of a disastrous night.
Hoseok notices the laundry basket.
"Oh! Why's the laundry basket placed here?"
My palms become sweaty as I reply, "The shed was leaking so I brought it up here."
Jimin nods and takes off his wet jacket and gestures to Hoseok. "Hobi hyung?"
Hoseok understands and hands Jimin his jacket as well. Jimin makes his way towards the laundry basket, and I feel my stomach drop at the realization.
"Stop!"
My yell catches them both by surprise. Namjoon was probably no better as the basket shakes slightly. Thankfully, the two guys around me don't notice.
I laugh awkwardly to make the situation a little better. Moving forward, I take both jackets from Jimin's hand and smile at them, who look at me warily.
"I'll do it for you."
I stand in front of the basket so that it will be out of the boys' sight. I open the lid and mouth a silent 'sorry' at Namjoon before throwing the wet jackets on top of him and closing the lid.
Poor Namjoon.
Jimin and Hoseok start chatting among themselves. I pout and start copying the answers Namjoon wrote for me on the answer sheet.
The doorbell rings and Jimin gets up. As I see the visitors, I mentally groan.
It's gonna be a long night.
My cute neighbor marches in with his dog in his arms. He seems to be in a bad mood.
"What happened?" Jimin asks him by placing a hand on his shoulder. I lower my pen, equally engrossed in the conversation.
The rain has stopped outside, increasing the dramatic silence inside the room.
Taehyung wails. "The Gucci pouch I bought recently as well as my money's missing. Hobi hyung! I need your help."
Horror struck, I watch as Yeontan jumps from Taehyung's arms and starts walking innocently towards the laundry basket and sniffs it. Thankfully, he ignores the basket and with small steps wanders off towards the kitchen.
Jimin and Hoseok share a look that doesn't go unnoticed by my eyes.
"Did he get too much in his character?" Hoseok whispers to Jimin but then immediately puts his hand on his mouth as he realizes we'd all heard him. Jimin smacks the back of Hobi's head before looking fearfully at me.
"Please catch the thief and put him behind the bars, hyung!" Taehyung pleads.
The laundry lid falls away and the next disaster of the night occurs. "Hyung, I swear I didn't steal anything!"
My mouth hangs open in shock. Jimin and Hoseok face palm themselves while Taehyung accusingly points his finger towards Namjoon. "What were you doing hiding in there, then? Thief! Hobi hyung catch him!"
"Taehyung, Namjoon's not a real thief." Hoseok explains to Taehyung and I watch him as if he's speaking some alien language.
"You know Namjoon?" My shock is real.
"He's my friend at university," Jimin confesses and I look at him and Namjoon with a look of betrayal in my eyes. "We'll explain everything to you."
"But someone really did steal my pouch from my house a while ago." Taehyung reminds us.
I put my emotions aside and try to analyze Taehyung's situation. That's when it clicks.
Not only had I seen my laundry basket move, but I'd also heard the kitchen's window bang.
"What if there's a real thief in here?" Hoseok voices his observation which is similar to mine.
"The kitchen..." I don't get to complete my sentence when we hear Yeontan's barking come from the kitchen.
