The sharp click of boots against dull, metallic floor echoed around the large room. It covered the muffled boom of explosions and blood curdling screams from just outside.
Click, click, click
Somehow the violent sounds felt miles away as the clicks kept their consistent pattern.
Click, click, click
The owner of the boots paused and took a deep breath, her cheeks flushed from the temperature in the building. The atmosphere was warm- not in feeling but to the touch- and it wasn't a welcoming warmth, but rather a suffocating heat.
A sort of mustiness saturated the room, making the air feel close and encompassing. The scent of it was stale, as if fresh air had long since eluded it.
The girl began pacing again, her amber eyes scanning and searching her surroundings.
Click, click, click
The hidden safe had to be behind one of the panels in this room. She continued to pace around in a circular manner as she examined for some sort of vulnerability.
She noted the coolness of the walls sharply contrasted the thick heat. They were made up of cold grey alloy, boring and plain to look at. Of course the grey metal was standard for a military base. But she did wonder if it was poorly constructed considering the irritating temperature.
The click of heels against the ground stopped abruptly as the girl came to a halt again. Her amber eyes had gone wide as her body became hyper alert. Someone was coming.
She stood tense in the middle of the room surrounded by three lifeless bodies she'd been pacing around.
One body was unconsciously laid helpless. The arms were pulled awkwardly to the side in a way that arms weren't meant to bend.
The other two were bleeding profusely. The blood pouring out straight from the heart. The red liquid pooled around the bodies, growing to cover the cold grey floor.
The girl held a red crystal dagger dipped from the same blood. She promptly wiped the small blade against her pant leg as her grip tightened around the hilt.
She took a step to turn away from the bodies, her gaze now scanning for the new player. The echo of her boots continued to bounce off the walls as she searched.
Click, click, click- BAM
A violent shatter echoed throughout the room. The largest window had been obliterated, causing glass to be thrown everywhere in small bits and pieces.
The girl shielded herself with her arm, turning her body away.
After a moment she turned back and eyed the damage that had been done. Her gaze fell on the person responsible for the destruction.
He was standing a few feet from her having just barreled through the window. Behind him was the window pane that was now fully broken through. Shards of glass decorated the ground beneath it, and light from the sun was now blaring through the opening. The light seemed to follow as he stepped further into the room.
"Well well," he smirked, his deep blue eyes trailing over the girl, "Just the person I was looking for."
"How'd you know I was here?" She sneered in annoyance.
He shrugged, "I hadn't seen you out on the field for a while."
"And being the fool you are, you plunged through military grade glass to find me."
