Some people would think that it would be eerily quiet in a town outside of Boston at 2:30 in the morning. A ghost town. Those people would be wrong.

In fact, a McDonald's parking lot in the middle of the night had so much going on it was slightly concerning to a group of four people who just wanted to eat their food in peace.

"I swear to God if this man doesn't move away from the car I'm going to throw my fucking drink at him!" Nick yelled, pressing his face to the window to get a better look at the man dancing on the sidewalk.

"Okay, calm down buddy. It isn't that serious."

"Not that serious? I know all of you at home just heard Chris say that and I am begging you to flood his DM's with hate comments," he said pointing directly into the camera lens, making the other passengers in the car roll their eyes.

"Can we just get back to the topic at hand," Matt interrupted while throwing a fry into Nick's face. "Top three animals."

"Monkey," Chris stated without hesitation.

"That's only one animal."

"Oh, well then, why don't you grace us with your thoughts on the top three animals Miss Langston."

Emory could hear Nick and Matt audibly suck in breaths. He had pulled out the last name. "Giraffe, cat, and jellyfish," she responded, flipping Chris off.

"You did not just rank a fucking cat in your top three." Matt turned around, his eyes wide.

"Oh, I most definitely did, because it's the correct answer."

"It's an opinion there is no right or wrong answer."

"Fine, what's your top three?"

"Pug-"

"That right there is an example of the wrong fucking answer."

Matt and Emory continued to argue until Nick screamed at the top of his lungs causing the other three passengers to turn their heads slowly and look at him.

"Not that anyone in this car cares about my answer but Chris is my top animal."

"Now that is the correct answer!" Emory laughed, leaning over to ruffle his hair. He pushed her hand away and did the same to her.

She leaned back into her seat, letting her head fall onto the headrest and closing her eyes for a moment.

It felt like her brain had been working on overdrive for days now. and to be fair, it had. She couldn't remember the last time she slept for more than an hour at a time.

She just needed a minute where her thoughts would be quiet. She sighed and let her mind wander in hopes of landing on a safe topic. She just needed it to be quiet.

Quiet.

Quiet

A quiet room.

A dark room.

A pair of hands.

"Emory."

"Emory! Is she even listening?"
