Am playing the violin in my room dad said i should practice he said as been half French I should be able to play at least one instrument so i chose the violin am still learning the basics. The door bell rings
"Elle go see who is at the door"says my dad
"Ok" I see him bent over by the fireplace tending to the fire. I open the door and see my bestfriend Anne
"Anne how..." She cuts me off immediately
"Get your horse"am surprised by that
"Why"
"We are riding into the woods"I clearly forgot Anne's annoying elder sister that has an undying crush on Xander she makes us follow her so it wouldnt look like she is been rebelious and doing crasy stuff with guys.
"Ok let me grab my coat and get my horse"I grab my coat and we set out.It always feels so wrong doing this I always tell Anne but she only shrugs saying she doesnt have a say in the matter. He doesnt deserve to be treated that way I know Genevieve does not like him she is only with him because of his matured looks and behaviors who am i kidding anyway no one is going to listen to me.
We meet Genevieve she tells us to stay near the valley so she could go into the woods to meet him. Why into the woods? I always ask myself that
"You know this stuff Genevieve is doing is not right"I try to tell Anne
"I know Elle but there's nothing any of us can do" she says the same thing she tells me whenever i bring up the topic
"I agree but he doesnt deserve it, Genevieve is only leading him on"I try elaborating
"Take it off your mind Elle"I sigh and try changing the topic
"I told mom i miss Veronique"
"I understand how u feel Elle but am always here you know"she takes my hand and gives it a little squeeze
"I know thanks for been by my side"I hug her.
Anne is the only friend I got in France. I always felt out of place whenever am here because when am in France i miss England and vice versa and am always on my own so other kids nicknamed me "snobbish" or "bottle bottom" the second comes from my hideous glasses i always feel ashame wearing but i cant go about without them.
Anne and I talk for a while she gets me more than anyone and am so glad she's my friend. Genevieve comes hand in hand with Xander. I always feel insecure when he is near. I kinda have a crush on him but i know he only sees me as Genevieve little tag along so i cant dare approach or talk to him for fear of been snobbed
"Bye Xander"Genevieve tells him he nods, pecks her on the cheek and puts her on the horse. He mounts on his horse and leaves. Anne and I both get on our horses and rides in silence each in our different thoughts till Anne breaks the silence
"He is such a nice guy"Anne says
"He is not my type"Genevieve replies coldly, this really catches me off guard. Anne and I both look at each other at the same time
"But you are always going to meet him and making us come with him, you act all romantic too. What is the fault he has then"
"Well for starters i bring u both with me because i dont want you both sitting by yourself and been bored"I roll my eyes when she says this, she continues "He is a proper gentleman but he has some faults...."she keeps talking about his problem but i stopped paying attention, If i had someone been all over me like that i would treat them with respect. She doesnt regard him at all and this really annoys me.

We approach my house i wave them goodbye and go to put the horse in the stable, mom comes out to meet me smiling and i know something is up
"Put the horse fast dear I have a surprise"she beams. I knew it!
"I'm on my way mom"I hurry up as fast as I can and head inside
I get in and see the biggest surprise of all,my elder sister Veronique is actually here am so excited and thrilled
"Hey Elle"She says "Veronique"I shout and run up to her and gives her a very big hug
"Mom said you would come during weekend"
"I know i wanted to surprise u" She really surprised me am so happy to see her I have a lot to tell her
"Thanks"I hug her again she smiles
"Tomorrow you,mom and I are going shopping"I dont really feel the joy in shopping but i would go so as to spend time with my sister
"I would really love to go so i would spend time with you
We talk lots of girly stuff she got me some presents a fancy lingerie which I know I won't ever use cause no one ever sees me pretty, I'd really use the sparkles lip gloss she got me I have always wanted one. Night eventually comes and we both sleep in my room

The next day we eat our breakfast of pancakes and get dressed for the shopping, while dressing mom comes in
"Girls you both can go shopping without me"This really shocks me cause mom is actually someone that shops till she is penniless. I follow her immediately she turns to leave
"Mom what's wrong?" She avoids my eyes for a while
"Your dad is terribly sick Elle"
"And you really think I'd go shopping with him like that"
"I wanted you to spend time with your sister" I know she has wants me to make up for the time Veronique spends with her dad but I can't go if dad is sick
"Let me go see him" I leave.
I get to my Dad's room he looks so thinner this diabetes is really wearing him out
"Heyy Dad"I walk up and sit by his head. Its really hot
"Elle"
"Yes Dad how you feeling"
"I'm fine its just the sickness making me tired
"I could stay home with you Dad so I'd keep you company"
"No Elle I don't want you ditching your shopping plan with your sister you must go"I feel so sad I don't want to leave dad as he is so down
"Ok Dad I would. Pls be fine"
"Always Elle"I hug him and wave him bye
I go shopping with Veronique she is a shopping freak like mom and am entirely opposite like what's the joy in walking about aisles and trying different dresses it doesn't move me at all.I get an eye roll from Veronique every time I groan. I manage to get two gowns red and black they look two short in my eyes but Veronique says their perfect I don't have any choice than to go with it, atleast its what shows I went for shopping.
We get home and meet mom making Pasta. I head to dad's room so I would inform him I'm home but I found him sleeping so I quietly head to my room and take a quick shower to wash out the shopping sweat.
"Shit Anne you really scared me"I find her sitting on my bed. I raise my hand to my chest to steady my breathes.
"You were taking all day" she rolls her eyes
"And to what do I owe this visit?"I cock my eyebrows at her
"I came this morning to check on you but Helen said you went shopping with Veronique"She calls my mom by her name because that's what mom wants she feels old if been called Mrs or addressed as a mom, she can be crazy sometimes
"Yeah Veronique came yesterday so we decided to hang out together"
"Ok.Yesterday Genevieve took me to this cool party you would have love it"
"You know am not a fan of party I'd just ridicule myself there"
"That's a lie Elle you don't"
"Uh huh u remember the last time I got drunk almost gave the guys there a free ticket strip show" She laughs hard at this
"But you didn't Xander came and took you off"
"That made it more embarrassing" I dress up quickly and we head outside we kept on talking till we saw Xander approaching
"Where is Genevieve"
"She is not here" Anne answers
"Go tell her to meet me at our usual place" He leaves immediately.
"He is damn rude" I tell Anne
"Yea if not for Genevieve I would have put him in his place" she says icily
"You sure would"I laugh "Why don't you go tell Genevieve he came looking for her I would wait here for you"
"Ok" Before she tries getting up we see Genevieve approaching us
We pass on the message and she said she wouldn't go because she has a party at South of France. It shocked me
"Would you atleast just tell him you have a party to attend"I dare ask
"No I'd love to see him wait he would get the message later on"She laughs wildly and leaves. That's so bad its really going to hurt his ego am really sure of that. I know he is rude and deserves some punishment I just couldn't let him sit and wait all day for someone who doesn't care.
"Would you just leave him like that? " I ask Anne. Anne shrugs and says "Yea you don't expect me going over there and telling him what happened its not my business"I couldn't let it happen so I stand up and starts leaving
"Where you going" Anne asks
"I can't leave him wait all day"
"So what are you going to him"
"Yes not telling him is damn rude"I say. She shrugs and let's me be.

I keep walking farther to the woods and I started rethinking it all what am I going there to say but I couldn't back down he has already seen me
"She said she isn't coming" I could see the pure rage in his eyes and really regret coming here
"Where you sent to report back on how hurt I was" he asked bitterly and his blue eyes bore into mine
"No" I squeak
"Then I guess you came to offer yourself as the consolation prize" before I could understand what is really happening he catches me by the arm with his steel like grip, tilts my chin up and kissed me. This shocked me it drew my breath away but what really hurts the most is his rough hands upon my skin and bitter anger in his eyes. Everywhere smells of damp earth and the dappled shade of woods is suppose to make this my perfect first kiss but it didn't feel right.
He pushes back away from me like as if he can't remember how we got there. He looked disgusted?
"Go home Emmanuelle and grow up" He says. I couldn't let him see my tears so I run off as fast as my feet can carry me.
