"Hyung, was it easy for you to stay alone when you were in college?"

Jungkook asked Namjoon, lying on his bed.

"I never was alone, Kookie." I had so many friends; in fact, during the first year of college, mom and dad visited me once a month."

Namjoon was totally different from his little brother. He was never a wallflower like Jungkook. He had friends. Most importantly, when he was in college, their parents weren't as busy as they are now.

"I can't live in a big house all alone."

Jungkook took one of Namjoon's feather-filled pillows and started to squeeze it. Namjoon kept his phone on the table to give more attention to his brother.

"Who said you were living there alone?"

Jungkook stopped the squeezing activity with a delightful face.

"Are you coming with me?"

Namjoon laughed a little and started tickling the boy on the bed. But Jungkook jumped out of bed and threw the pillow in his hands at Namjoon's face.

"Yaaah! (Hey)"

Namjoon shouted.

"Hey...hey...stop! You didn't give me an answer."

The chaotic moment faded away as Namjoon again sat on his big chair, breathing heavily.

"No. Jungkookie. It's time for you to face the world alone. I'm not coming with you. But..."

Namjoon hurriedly continued before Jungkook made an upset face.

"Do you know Mr. Park? Dad's business friend?"

"No?"

"Jeez, Jungkook, you even went for dinner at his place last month."

Namjoon facepalmed. Jungkook's mouth opened, and his eyebrows raised a little as he nodded his head.

"Aah, I remember now."

"His second son is also your age. Jin, his older son, is already in the US. Living in a pretty small house. When you get there, you'll have to share your house with the Park brothers, as they are going to move into your house."

The news didn't make Jungkook happy, as he felt nervous about having to share that house with two strangers.

"Don't worry, I can introduce you to Jimin. So you guys can be good friends before going there."

Namjoon set up a dinner at their place for Jimin and Jungkook. First, they were awkwardly looking at each other as if they were seeing each other to talk about marriage. But when they were about to eat, Jimin started talking about his brother's food.

"Umm...Jungkook? Right? I'm Jimin. Park Jimin. It looks like you aren't very talkative. I was also shy for a few minutes because of you. But how can I keep my mouth shut when I see these amazing dishes? Do you know my brother, Jin? He is the best chef I've ever seen. When we go to the US, let's ask him to make our food okay."

Jungkook looked dearly at the beautiful smile of the boy in front of him. He forgot all his worries after seeing Jimin's smile.

"Jimin... Do you like to stay at my house in the US? Do you really like to share the food your brother prepares for you with me?"

Jungkook asked to make sure Jimin meant everything he said. Jimin again smiled with his eyes and said,

"Of course, Kookie. Friends can share anything. Even their brother."

Jungkook got a beautiful nickname on their first encounter. He loved it.

Since then, Jungkook has become closer to Jimin. They spent their last year before going to the states together as brothers. Jungkook got to meet Jin twice during that time. Jin wasn't as friendly as Jimin. But Jungkook saw him as a good guy whose heart was a little bit cold.

Jungkook chose Business Studies as his major and some other business-related subjects as his minors after a long period of struggle.

I'm afraid of singing in front of people. How can I be an artist? Also, I know my dad. He never says anything without a proper reason. He must be right about his music career not having a solid future. I will go with the business.

He wished he could be like Jimin, who had a constant idea of what he wanted to do.

But they were two different people.

"Jungkookie! Do your best at college, okay? Fighting!"

"I love you, my little prince."

On the day he entered college in the States, Jungkook's parents cheered him up.

For two months, Mrs. Jeon was with Jungkook, but after that, he was left alone at home. Although Mrs. Jeon wanted to see the Park brothers move into their new house with Jungkook, Jin didn't want to do as she wished.

"Please Jin. Please move into Jungkook's house with your brother. My son has never lived alone before. So, please make him feel like you're family. This is a kind request from me."

Mrs. Jeon knew how arrogant Jin was. So she had to beg Jin to move in. But he, without showing any respect to Mrs. Jeon, said,

"Okay, I'll see."

"Or you can just live in both houses. Week by week, change the house. That'll be fun, too."

Mrs. Jeon said it excitedly. Jin shook his head and said,

"Oh no, please, Mrs. Jeon. Don't say things that won't work out. I..."

"Okay fine. Do whatever you like. But please don't deny my request."

Jin was interrupted by Mrs. Jeon. He didn't want to talk with a middle-aged woman anyway. So he bowed to her and bid farewell.

Jungkook's mother left him after giving him a long lecture.

"Make more friends, okay? Call us every day and tell us everything about your day at college. No matter how busy we are, we'll always make time to listen to you. I promise! And stay happily with Jimin and Jin. Don't miss us too much. You'll want to come back home if you do so. Okay, my baby?"

Mrs. Jeon said at the end of her lecture:

"Okay, mama."

Jungkook hugged his mother with tearful eyes. He didn't want to let her go. But he had no choice. He knew he should stand by his feet as a real man. He knew it was time for him to be exposed to society.

End of flashback

"Mama! Mama!! I can't live here, mama. Please take me home, mama."

"Jungkookie!? Wake up, my love. Wake up!"

Jungkook opened his eyes, startled by the bad dream, but soon he was relieved when his mother was there, sitting on his bed, caressing his head.
