Weather Girl: Beginning of an Adventure

Day 4

Ok ok ok ok, T- 24 hours before I'm back to school and I'm perfectly chill about it! ...Did you buy that? Yeah, me neither

I mean  I can't help but worry! As if high school wasn't gonna be hard enough on its own now I have powers to keep in check! UGH! Can't I just stay home?! Of course not, that would be too easy, now wouldn't it

Welp, I might as well enjoy my last day of freedom instead of fretting about tomorrow. Remember that pamper weekend I told you about in the last entry? Yeah, welcome to Spa Day Sunday! My personal favorite hehe

My mom knows it's always hard starting a new school year so she tries her best to keep us relaxed before the first day. In my opinion, she's doing a pretty great job! <3 No seriously, without her I would have crippling anxiety by now

Anyways, our appointment is by 10:30 am and it's currently... *don't mind me just checking the time on my phone* 10:13 am?! SHOOT I'M MEANT TO BE READY BY 10:15! OK, I GOTTA GO GET READY BEFORE MY MOM LEAVES ME BEHIND, I'LL WRITE MORE LATER!

Alright, I'm back. I managed to throw a semi-decent outfit together and get some food down my throat before we hopped in the car where I'm writing right now. We're gonna be a bit late but hopefully not late enough for them to give our spots away. Fingers crossed!

We just made it to the spa so I'm gonna have to go again. I'm not sure my mom would approve of me scribbling away in my notebook when we're supposed to be relaxing. I'll try to fill you in on anything interesting that happens between treatments, don't worry. But, spoiler alert, spas aren't exactly the center of action lol

IT IS MUCH MUCH MUCH LATER WHEN I'M WRITING THIS LIKE IT'S LITERALLY 9 PM AND YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START! SHOULD I STOP SCREAMING? YEAH OK, I'LL STOP, SORRY!

*deeply inhales* So I was at the spa just chillaxing with my mom and sister;

"Ah... I don't know about you, girls, but I'm having the time of my life" my mom sighed

"Yeah, me too! But I'm kinda bored." Scarlett complained

"We're here to relax, Scout. If you wanted constant entertainment, you should've gone to the movies." I answered

"Well I would've, but it was 2 against one!"

"It was a fair vote, deal with it!"

"Alright, alright. Carli, if you're really that bored I'll turn on the TV" my mom said calmly

You see, we had a spa room all to ourselves so we had total control over basically everything; including the TV

"Yay!!" Scarlett squeaked as my mom handed her the remote, "Thanks Mami!"

She flicked through the channels, letting out little cries of disgust at anything that wasn't animated or colorful

I didn't think much of it. That is until the broadcast on one of the news channels had my attention in a chokehold

"BREAKING NEWS! Criminals have been spotted robbing a bank in Downtown LA, but reports from police say they are far from ordinary. They claim-"

The news reporter was very rudely cut off by my little sister who I guess was far from interested in what he had to say

"WAIT SCOUT GO BACK!" I yelled

She raised an eyebrow at me with a smirk

"Please" I muttered, rolling my eyes

She gave me a content look and flipped back to the news channel

"And now, we're joined by Maya down at the scene. Maya?"

"Thanks, Frank. Police and citizens alike are flabbergasted by what is going on here in Downtown LA. The officers seem to have the bank completely surrounded at least... 10 of them on each side. I talked to one of them earlier and he told me that the criminals they are dealing with are not normal, Frank. He said they were extremely powerful. It was like, and I quote, they had superpowers. Frank, the police aren't sure what exactly they're dealing with but some civilians suspect the criminals are equipped with special technology that has never been seen before. I guess only time will tell."

"Maya, there seems to be a bit of commotion behind you"

"Yes, I think one of the robbers is coming out of the ban-"

Suddenly, the glass doors of the bank shattered and I flinched as if I was going to jump out through the screen towards me. The robber emerged, and a cloud of dark matter surrounded him. In the blink of an eye, police, and civilians were being tossed around by this mysterious matter. They weren't kidding when they said he was powerful. The news lady was tossed aside and the super-criminal grasped the camera tightly

"Here's a warning to all the folks at home. It's finally my time to shine! I don't quite know how I got this gift," he said twirling a dark substance between his fingers, "But I'm gonna use it alright. Prepare yourself, everybody, it's gonna be a rough ride" With that he sent a dark sphere towards the camera, cracking the lens. And he let out this awful, deep, haunting cackle that was cut off by the loss of signal

the news reporter was almost as at a loss for words as I was

Um... it seems we lost connection. I don't know for sure what's going on, but as you all just saw, we could be entering the era of superheroes and supervillains; our lives could change as we know it. We'll be sure to keep you posted on the situation. Stay safe, everyone."

At that moment I stole the remote out of Scout's hand and quickly changed the channel back to her cartoons

"Supervillains?! Here?! I thought they weren't real!" Scarlett cried

"Maybe it's all just some sort of publicity stunt, you know how people are here." my mom replied a bit shakily, not fully believing it herself

"That looked pretty real to me..." I uttered lowly

"Mami, I'm scared"

"There's nothing to be afraid of, Carli. We're nowhere near Downtown LA"

"But what if he comes here?! Can we just go home?"

"Yeah... yeah we will, let me just go get one of the workers so they can get these masks off and finish the treatment"

"Um, can I use the restroom before we go?" I asked

"Sure honey, just be quick"

I scampered out of the room and made my way down the hallway. I felt sick to my stomach and my vision was running in circles

I know in the first entry I talked about how it would be nice for some villains to come with my superpowers but.. let's just say it was a lot scarier to see in real life than my imagination made it seem

I finally made my way to the bathroom and splashed cold water on myself in an attempt to calm my racing mind

So many thoughts were barging into my brain all at the same time

Right then and there, it dawned on me that I wasn't the only one who got powers. It dawned on me that that robber probably isn't the only one who's going to use them for bad things. It dawned on me that choosing to use my powers for good makes it my responsibility to keep everyone safe.  Now, I don't know if there are other heroes out there, but I have to do all I can to protect my city even if it's all on my own

Yeah, this definitely doesn't feel like a fairytale anymore... More like a nightmare...

Haiiiii besties. Long time no see, eh? Hehe... So um anyways we're just gonna forget that I was gone for so long and focus on the future, k? I have some big things coming for this story and I have so much of it planned out already SO I will try to update more so it doesn't all go to waste.
