Jack poured us two bowls of cereal and cut up some fresh fruit in silence while I waited at the bar, watching his back muscles move to his movements. It's quite fascinating really watching the human body work, especially when that human body isn't too bad looking.

He set a bowl of Frosted Flakes in front me and and bowl of strawberries, grapes, and kiwi between us.

I put a spoonful in my mouth and gave him a look. "So is now the point in our relationship where I've earned enough trust for you to tell me what the hell is going on?" I asked, swallowing.

Jack gave me a funny look. "I can't even trust you with the stove, what makes you think I'm going to trust you with my life secrets?"

I laughed. "Very true, but you could at least tell me something so I stop nagging you all the time."

Jack chewed his cereal thoughtfully before clearing his throat. "Okay. I really can't tell you that much, but I can tell you that a few years ago I dropped out of high school and enrolled in the military. I was pretty fit and good at what I did so I advanced quickly. Finally I was sent on this mission with a few guys ranging from my age to very experienced. We went overseas and completed our mission, but in doing so we uncovered something we were never supposed to find out."

He sighed and plopped a strawberry in his mouth. "I was the one who found it, and naturally caused the most problems. The rest of the guys don't know half the stuff I do, that's why all these guys want to kill me and everyone around me." He gave me a serious look that I returned. "We've spent a lot of time together, and they've noticed. That's why I had to drag you out of that bar. I told your dad some stuff, but not enough for anyone to be suspicious, so your dad is fine. You on the other hand, are not."

My eyes slowly widened as this sunk in. "So we're basically on the run from these people or we die?"

Jack shook his head. "Yeah, kinda. I've been in the run for a while. Emmit was one of the guys on my team."

I gasped. "So is Jenelle in danger?"

Jack shook his head again. "No, everyone is fine but us." He said with a kind of laugh in his voice.

I nodded and finished my cereal in silence. "That's kind of cool actually, it's like we're in a movie." I looked at him. "Do you think if we die they'll write books and make movies about us like Bonnie and Clyde?"

Jack laughed and took both our bowls and placed them in the sink. "Doubtful. They wouldn't be able to provide a back story that would die with me."

I frowned and stood up, holding up my pants. "So are we just going to stay here forever or are we going to do something about those assholes?"

Jack looked up at me and got a funny smile on his face. "We'll do something if the opportunity presents itself. Until then, we stay here."

I sighed and walked out of the kitchen and back to my bedroom where I decided it would be a good idea to take off my granny pajamas and find something more suitable to wear.

Thoughts flew through my mind as I searched the drawers in my underwear. The first thought was that Jack and I were fugitives from men who no one knew anything about, except Jack. Secondly, I could die and for some reason I wasn't freaking out about it.

I opened the wardrobe and sighed as I found no pajamas but some really cute outfits I'd get to pick from tomorrow. "Well, at least if I'm going down with a guy I don't really know very well for something I have no idea about, at least I'll be fashionable!" Giving up on my search, I turned off the lights and climbed into bed under the soft covers.

My life had suddenly taken an insane turn from that seemingly harmless day on the beach to now. Who would have thought I, the bartender's daughter, would get caught up in something so crazy?

My mind filtered through some insane scenario's of getting caught and some crazy fight scene's as I drifted off into a fitful sleep.

***********

I heard something bumping around outside my bedroom door when I first started waking up. When I heard something slam into the wall I leaped out of bed, put my granny pj's back on, and grabbed a heavy book from the bookshelf. I crept slowly over to my door and waited as I listened for any more noises. Hearing nothing, I eased the door open slowly and gave a shout, swinging my book wildly through the air.

The other party shouted as well, falling to the floor and rolling, kicking his legs out. They knocked into mine and I fell on my butt. Scrambling up, I lauched myself forward and tackled him back to the ground, pinning him under my legs and hands.

Jack's door flew open behind me and instead of hearing a shout of alarm, I heard laughter.

Confused I turned around and then looked back at the person under me. "Holy shit... Emmit!" I crawled off him and stood slowly against the wall, Jack still chuckling behind me. "I'm so sorry Emmit!" I turned around to face Jack. "What the hell is he doing here?"

Jack shrugged and leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. He had finally put a shirt on but had been replaced by the most adorable looking bedhead. "I don't know. He called me last night and said he would be coming." He walked forward and pulled Emmit off the ground and put an arm around his neck. "I just didn't expect him to be so clumsy getting in here."

Emmit rubbed the back of his head and grinned sheepishly. He was dressed in a pair of loose fitting jeans and a t-shirt with a strange insignia on the corner depicting a round circle with three latin words inside, crossed with two arrows. "Well I hadn't really expected your girlfriend here to be the freakin' calvarly coming in to knock me over." He gave me a funny look. "Very few people have ever managed to knock me over."

I blushed when he said girlfriend and avoided eye contact with Jack. "We're not dating, and that's surprising considering how easily I managed to do it." I winked at him and laughed as his cheeks were tinted red.

Jack laughed, and I noticed briefly how he had also ignored his friend's comment about us dating. Ouch.

"So what do you say we get changed and have some breakfast and discuss why you drove all the way out here?" Jack asked, looking at his friend.

"Sounds dandy. I promise I wont smack any of you in the head, or set anything on fire." Emmit gave me a curious look and I shrugged. "Jack can explain."

I turned and went into my room, closing the door softly behind me. I let out a long, low breath and rubbed a hand over my face. Something was telling me that Emmit's sudden arrival, to a place no one was supposed to know about, was about to change everything.
