"So how long have you two been friends?" Mother asks sipping her iced tea

Yep you guessed it we are currently sitting in the bar and grill
Being grilled by my mother
She wants to know if we're dating I can feel it

"Not to long we met at Marthas bakery" Noah responds smoothly

"Interesting I was only asking because my daughter is a social outcast back at home my mom" says in that tone

And then she wonders why her and dad got divorced

From her snippy comments to his borderline dry personality I find it hard to imagine how they even fell in love in the first place

"I can assure you she is really social"
"But I have some tricks to keep her mouth shut" Noah says smirking to himself

That little-

My mother laughs and her and Noah continue light conversation
While I sit there awkwardly but I couldn't be more thankful for Noah truthfully

—————

My mother decided she should start to drive back but it was nice meeting Noah and good to see me blah blah blah

Me and Noah walk silently on the bored walk

"Hey thanks for today" I say

"No problem" he says in response

"I have a question though"
"How did your mother expect you to show her around town when you don't even know even know it that well yourself?"

"My mother is like that"
"She wanted to see me look stupid"

"Because she knows all I've been doing is staying at Martha's bakery"

"And not any time with my dad"

"It's not anything directed towards me she just hates my father"

Noah nods in response
"Well how about about you create a bucket list?"

"A bucket list?"

"Yes"

"Of all the things you want to do In this town and I'll show them to you and we can do them"

"Why would you want to do that?"

"Well it wouldn't be for me"
"It would be for you"

"To prove to your mother that your actually having fun this summer"

"A bucket list huh?"

He nods

"all right I'll bring it to you tomorrow"

"Sounds good have a goodnight bells"

"You as well"

I rush home and give martha a quick hug to which she gives me a surprised smile and I rush upstairs

I look for a plain piece of paper
And start write down everything I want to do this summer

Obviously we still have to work but I can have fun too right?

And after about an hour I finish writing my list and crash onto my bed

I'll show you a bucket list Noah
just you wait

———

The next day we work our butts off at the bakery all the way in till we closed up shop

Noah folds his arms in curiosity to see the list I came up with

I take the folded piece of paper out of my jeans and slide it across the counter

Noah looks like he's biting back a smile as he grabs the paper and reads it carefully

"Your handwriting sucks" he says looking up at me

My smile drops into a joking glare

"Mini golf? He asks
Mhm I respond
Beach volleyball
Biking
Getting bad gas station coffee
Bored walk carnival games
Beach rave
And Surprise me"

Noah finishes reading the list and lifts his brow
"Really this is your amazing bucket list?"

"Yes and you are going to do it all with me" I say folding my arms with a smug expression

"That's what I promised didn't I?" Noah says leaning forward

I stumble a little

Sometimes it's hard to not get lost in eyes
Especially when they are on me

The words don't come out so I just settle for a nod

"What does surprise me mean?" He asks keeping eye contact

"Exactly what it says surprise me" I say holding my stare

He nods

Summer = long
Bucket list = fun I hope
