Seeing Redd

Chapter 2

I greeted customers as they walked up. Most of them were little girls but there were a few teenagers and adults as well. I was standing in an area with a bunch of other actors. I saw Ethan standing a few spots over on my left and I could see Scarlet over to my right. She had a big smile as she spoke to a little girl with a doll of her character. I found myself distracted watching Scarley and kept zoning out from talking to people coming to see me. Finally the meet and greets are over and all of the actors start heading back to the dressing rooms. I see Scarlet and Ethan come together and start talking to eachother. I feel a pang in my heart. Is Scarlet totally straight? When we get back into the employee building Scarlet takes off her cloak and Ethan pulls off his coat and drapes is carefully over the back of a chair. He notices me standing nearby and smiles at me. "Hey Bella! Do you want to eat lunch with us?" I girn back "sure!" I grab my food and join Ethan and Scarlet at their table. Even if they are dating I might as well make some friends here. Another person shows up to eat lunch at the table too. Ethan introduces him as Mark and says that he works in guest relations. "Hi!" I say cheerfully. Mark waves back. Immediately Scarlet and Ethan start talking about the people they met that day and how work was going. "The kids are great as always but the heat is so awful! Wearing my big wool coat when its like 100 degrees out is awful!" Ethan whines. "Tell me about it" scarlet replies "my cloak is way to warm to be worn in this weather." I blush because my dress is made for the summer with its off the shoulder sleeves. "Sorry about that. My dress is pretty good for staying cool" I laugh nervously. "Lucky" Scarlet huffs. "At least its not Anna's traveling dress or you would be suffering in a long cape and sleeves like me." I smile at her. The others switch into talking about coworkers while I ask occasionally who they mean. So far their the only ones that I have met at Mouse Park. I learn that Avalon is the boss and that some of the other charater actors are hooking up sometimes. Lunch ends and we all head out again. The parade is going to start soon so I walk over to where my float is going to be. When I get there I see Scarlet already standing there. "Hey" she says to me putting a hand on her hip "So I guess we're sharing a float." I turn red. "O-oh! Ok cool!" One of the workers apparently named Alex helps Scarlet climb onto the float and then turns to help me. We both stood on top of the float and stand there waiting for the parade to start. "So..." I start nervously... "Are you and Ethan together?" I ask with a smile. Scarlet blinks at me and laughs a little. "No we're just firneds haha." "Oh cool!" I say relieved. "Yeah I mostly date girls" Scarlet told me casually. I froze. "You're not homophobic are you" Scarlet asked narrowing her eyes at me. "N-no! Of course not" I stammer out flustered. "That's totally cool I was just surprised. Scarlet nodded at me with a satisfied smile. Then the float started moving and I saw as Scarlet shifted into character mode. She was smiling and waving and acting like Redd from the movie. I had to pull my eyes away from her to focus on my own acting.
