It wasn't that he wasn't on board with the whole night hours idea, it just made everyone so busy. For almost a half hour, Ahkmenrah had been walking through every exhibit, wanting to show someone what he had found.
There were new added items to his exhibit! Which was awesome, because he got really bored sometimes with just his jackals for company. He had really been hoping they'd find his cat, with how much he missed her, but a few new little things were okay too!
But with new additions came more work, and with more work came less time, and now they were open to the public for the first few hours. It seemed there was not one person or even animal that had some free time... other than the neanderthals. And while Ahkmenrah had nothing against them, they wouldn't exactly be able to understand the rules of the game he wanted to play.
Well, there might be one group he hadn't tried yet...
"Attila! Attila, Meşgul müsün? [Are you busy?]"
"Tam olarak değil, neden? [Not exactly, why?]" Attila looked a bit preoccupied, talking to one of his soldiers, but it didn't sound like anything too important, so Ahkmenrah thought it might be safe to intrude.
"Sana göstermem gereken bir şey var. Bir oyun, benimle oynamak ister misin? [I have something to show you. A game, would you like to play with me?]" Attila perked up a bit at that, it was no secret that he enjoyed things like magic tricks and the like, but the Hun was also a great fan of games, simple and complex.
This one might be a bit difficult to explain, especially when English wasn't Ahkmen's own first language, and Attila couldn't even speak it, but he was a Pharaoh. Pharaohs solved problems, and worked around difficulties. He could do it, it wouldn't be that hard.
So he pulled Attila along. They needed a table, which was surprisingly hard to find. There was a large one in the foyer, but there might be others sitting around it, and maybe they'd want to play, and senet was really only meant for two people.
And so, for all those very logical and definitely not overly thought out reasons, they were stuck finding a quiet corner to sit in. Ahkmenrah had traded his usual glowing golden tablet for the game, which he laid out carefully.
"Daha önce oynadın mı? [Have you played before?]" He doubted it, considering they weren't even alive in the same time period, and as far as Ahk knew, senet never left Egypt, but there was no harm in asking.
Just as he began painstakingly translating the rules in his head to English, and then to the Turkic dialect the Huns spoke, a certain night guard rushed up to them.
"Guys, what are you doing? Look Attila, man, we're about to open. You guys have the reading group at 9. Ahk," He trailed off. "What are you doing?"
"I was just about to show Attila this wonderful new thing they just added to my tomb, it's called-" He was cut off.
"Whatever... it doesn't matter right now. You're still on for leading the tour group, right?" Ahkmenrah nodded. He may be enthusiastic, but he knew when his incessant talking wasn't wanted. It was one of the many hard fought lessons his father had instilled in him.
"Right." Larry paused, looked wildly around a few times, and checked his watch. "We gotta go, guys, c'mon."
And so they did. The night program was only open from 8:30 to 12, 9 to 12 in the summer (the sun stayed out much later), so there would fortunately be plenty of time for them to relax and have fun after whatever their assignment was for the night. In fact, Ahkmenrah had taken to drinking tea with Larry in his office. Both enjoyed their private time, and the unusually soundproofed walls made for a good escape. (How the walls had been soundproofed, or the reason why they were in the first place, Ahkmenrah didn't know.)
