My life was perfect. I had a loving family, an amazing sister, and as much help as I needed. Well, kind of. My friends were… well… toxic. They always made me do everything, and no matter how much I tried to get away from them, they always found a way to pull me back in. Anyways, enough about them.
My friends and I were sitting in our middle school science classroom. It was winter, and the windows were frosted. My friends bickered about the administrators not canceling school, as there was more than enough snow on the ground.  Suddenly, the teacher rapped his yardstick on his desk.
“We have a new student joining us.” He said. “Be nice to her, she’s had a rough life.”
When she entered the room, she skeptically looked around, then sat down in one of the outermost desks in the room. She looked shy, with thick, round glasses. I heard a noise coming from behind me. When I looked back, my friends were snickering.
“Oh wow. A new student,” one whispered. ”Looks like a nerd!”
“Yeah,” another replied. “She looks so nerdy it’s stupid!”
“Hey,” I said. “She doesn’t look that bad.”
“Oh sure,” they replied. ”It's just because you like her!”
“What? No!”
“Yeah!”
“No!”
“Then why are you sticking up for her?”
“Because we’re supposed to be nice to her!”
“Nah,” a random kid said. “I’m pretty sure you have a major crush on her.”
“NO. I. DON’T!” I yelled. Everyone in the room, including the new girl, turned to look at me. The teacher glared, then started the lesson.
I put my head down in embarrassment.
A few hours later, the overhead speaker came on.
“There is a bomb in the school!” Screamed the speaker. “Everyone evacuate the building immediately! This is not a drill!”
As everyone exited the building screaming and panicking, the new girl looked around. After a few seconds, she ran into the hallway. I followed her to try to warn her that she was going the wrong way, that she was going to die.
Suddenly, I was blinded and deafened, and realized my mistake.
When I opened my eyes(and my ears stopped ringing), I expected to be in the afterlife. I looked around, however, and saw nothing of the sort. I was covered by… pink. This girl was standing there. Her hair was longer, her skin fairer, and she was… floating. I shook my head, as I thought I was seeing things.
“Are you okay?” she asked, irritation in her voice.
The bubble disappeared and my senses came to me.. Half the school was demolished. Fire was everywhere. The girl floated down to me and checked for any wounds. Not seeing any, she stood back up.
“don't tell anyone about this.”
I was silent. Too stunned to speak. Or maybe I just believed I was dreaming.
She stared at me for a second, glaring.
When I could speak again, I assured her I wouldn’t tell anyone.
We walked out of the building and found everyone else. They all stared.
Our teacher started screaming at us, tears rolling down his face. I just stared at him, embarrassed, but she just said “We’re fine, aren’t we?” and walked off.
As I headed over to meet my classmates, she walked back over  to me and whispered, ”by the way, my name’s Amelia.” and walked off.
