The trees' dancing only grew more violent as the cold winter wind continued its harsh bitter song. Suddenly, the wind changed direction and knocked upon Rose's front door, refusing to let up. This was just one of the abundant reasons Rose utterly despised such a season. Snow on the other hand loved the berating winds and shaken trees. He enjoyed it so much that, he begged Rose to go out.
"Snow no. How many times do I have to tell you?" The brunette sighed, putting on xeir glasses, and looking over at the seemingly heartbroken snow.
However, it seemed today, Snow was not going to give in at all. He seemed...desperate with his whining and barking, looking deep into rose's eyes with his crystal blue ones.
"Fine fine! But not for too long okay? It's snowing already and last time you got sick! Now...Please go get your leash."
The husky happily obliged and ran off to find his slick black leash, along with his favorite squeaky toy: A rabbit with one of its eyes missing. He's had it since he was just a small puppy.
Rose smiled watching xeir furry friend before getting up and deciding to get dressed. Since it was so cold outside, a thick wool shirt and black sweatpants were on today's fashion list, along with a thick winter jacket kept on the door at all times due to the winters getting longer.
"Alright better get a move on before the storm gets worse..."
Rose quickly attached his leash to the worn-down collar before opening the door and walking out into the harsh winter.
As the sun slowly slipped even further into the night, Rose let out a small yawn, dusting off xeir clothing from the snow the two were sitting in.
"Yeah- time to go home Snow"
Snow looked up at xem, with a seemingly warm eerie expression. Instead of walking towards xem, he licked xeir face softly before nuzzling into his toy and laying down.
Rose giggled and tugged at the leash softly urging him to follow. He didn't follow. He closed his eyes getting comfortable and slowly breathing.
"Snow- c'mon boy. It's time to go home!" As the words escaped, they were filled with panic and quiet.
Unfortunately, it was all too late for Rose. Snow closed his eyes for the very last time, slipping into an eternal slumber.
Tears spilled from Rose's face, which now held a pained expression. This can't be happening...He was supposed to turn 20 in a few weeks.
"Do not worry lamosai. Snow lived a good life."
The sudden deep expressionless voice echoed in Rose's head, knocking xem off of xeir game. Despite being curious, xey did not dare to look at the source of such a voice.
"Who are you?"
"I am death."
'Death...Perhaps it can be reasoned with.'
As Rose turned, xeir eyes widened at the site of it.
That...thing was easily over seven feet tall, looking like some bizarre humanoid creature. The dark black eyes dripped with a thick pale substance. It was odd, you could see the substance on its white, somewhat transparent skin. Its unphased lips, covered in the liquid soon turned into a smirk of complete amusement at the human.
"See...Something you didn't exactly expect?"
As it spoke, sharp bloody teeth appeared in its mouth. It was horrifying yet...in an insane way, beautiful.
"You don't scare me! Bring snow back. Now."
Death took a step towards the human and pursed his scarred lips as if to think about it for a second...Only to lean down and whisper the cruel words in xeir ear.
"No."
"If you don't bring him back, ill kill you myself!!"
'A human? Murdering...death?'
"You are either crazy, drunk, or stupid. Which is it?"
"Let's make a deal. I kill you, and you bring back Snow."
"Fine. If I win, I get to murder someone of my choosing. Don't worry. It won't be you...You're too interesting and fun. Like a little plaything."
Death crossed his arms and snickered a bit before shaking Rose's hand. As soon as his cold hands came into contact with xeir's, a black rose appeared on the ebony's shoulder, causing an excruciating amount of pain.
"I'll bring you a friend to...help. His name is Mallory. Tell 'em I sent you."
With those words...He was gone.
Rose sighed, before turning xeir gaze to their companion on the floor.
"Don't worry...You'll be back soon."
