"Morning, Max." I whispered to the eight year old who, not so subtly, made his way into my and Stephanie's room. Stephanie was still fast asleep, but I was awake, doing some stretches to warm my body up for the day.
"Hi Aunt Charlie."
"What are you doing down here, kiddo?"
"Mom sent me to wake you and Aunt Stephanie."
A smirk grew on my face as an idea came into my head. "Why don't you jump on her bed? I'm sure she'd really enjoy that."
"Okay." Cluelessly, Max obliged, sneaking onto Stephanie's bed and jumping up and down repeatedly. "Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!"
"Why?" She asked him as I tried my best to contain my laughter. "It's time for Sunday brunch!"
"Oh, come back when it's time for Sunday dinner."
"Come on, Steph, you're gonna deny the little one the Sunday brunch?" I asked her as if she were some cruel monster.
"I have a feeling you have something to do with this." Stephanie said, squinting at me from across the room.
"Oh, I definitely did." I admitted, walking over to her bed.
"Mom made her famous blueberry pancakes!" Max exclaimed happily. "And she used duck eggs for more nutrition and a deeper flavor profile." We both looked at him shocked. "What? I like my cooking shows. Come on." Max started to drag Stephanie out of bed as she protested and let him drag her down to the floor.
"No, no, no!"
"Come on!"

Some more agonizing minutes later, Max, with my assistance, had managed to get Stephanie out of bed and up to the kitchen.
"I got her up!" Max announced proudly. "Aunt Stephanie is not a morning person."
"No. No, Aunt Stephanie is a night person." Stephanie patted him on the back. "You know, when the clubs are going off, the bottles are popping, people are hooking up..." DJ cleared her throat, gesturing towards the kids. "Their x-boxes."
"Aunt Steph, Aunt Charlie, let's go get some juice."
"Uh, I don't want any juice." I squinted my eyes in confusion.
"Yeah, neither do I." Stephanie agreed.
"Then help me pick out my juice." She looked at Jackson. "They're such good juice picker-outers." She dragged us both to the fridge as the boys continued to eat their breakfast.
"I still haven't told the boys about Kimmy and Ramona moving in today." DJ whispered to us.
"Chicken." Stephanie remarked randomly.
"Okay, I'm a little bit of a chicken." DJ begrudgingly agreed.
"No, I'm talking about the fried chicken." Stephanie pointed to a tray of fried chicken in the fridge.
DJ shook her head, continuing on her rant as Stephanie and I snacked on the chicken. "The boys have been through so many changes and here comes another one, and I just don't know how they're gonna react. So don't say a word until I find the right moment to break the news."
"Sorry, I spilled the beans." Stephanie said with an apologetic look on her face.
"You told them?"
"No, I spilled the beans when I was reaching for the chicken."

"Mom, just tell me what's going on." Jackson begged as he stared at the ginormous pile of whipped cream on his pancakes in front of him.
