Was it easy being a woman in the military, no, but Sam wouldn't have changed it for the world, she'd been working on the most amazing project for 6 years, she wouldn't have changed it for the world.  Sam was close as you would expect with her co-workers, Teal'C an alien, quite literally, but he renounced his god, to help them fight against the Goa'uld, who were quite simply parasites. Daniel Jackson, who was an archaeologists, and a linguist, perhaps one of her closest friends, because she shared a lot with him, they had common interests. Then last but not least, Jack O'Neill, her superior officer, and friend, there was a lot you could say about him, but it was easier to not.

Sam over the years, had gotten romantic feelings for Jack, but she could never act upon them because, well they  were military officers, it was forbidden, although she did know that he felt the same way, or perhaps that was the wrong wording, he cared about her, there had never really been any proper acknowlegment on his side, again likely from the job. It was something that she fully understood, it was okay in fact, she'd started dating someone Pete Shalahan, a cop, although the similarites between him and Jack were some would say uncanny, she was clearly attracted to a certain type of man.

Sam had come into the SGC, for work, it was normal, she'd worked rather late, but that was common, she tended to be a workaholic, which was something that frustrated the hell out of most people Jack included. But Jack had found he was very jealous of Pete, he was more cranky than he usually was, which for Jack was saying something, but Sam made her way into the mess, she saw Jack sitting, with  Daniel and she waved, before picking up some  food and she came and joined them sitting opposite Jack like Daniel had and Daniel then said.

"Morning Sam, and careful he's really cranky this morning, it looks like jealousy, to me at least" Daniel teased very mercilessly, he was clearly enjoying it, although you could hardly blame him for that, Jack could be even worse, he could be childish with it  "For crying out loud Daniel do you ever just shut up, i am not jealous of anything, i have nothing to be jealous about, so how about you shut the hell up"  Jack snapped rather loudly, which really was a  big hint that something was bothering him, Sam raised a brow simply and she then said softly.

"you are more cranky than usual sir, perhaps we can help with whatever it is, a problem shared is a problem halved" Jack simply rubbed his hands over his face, she really wasnjt helping, with her behaviour, and it wasn't her fault, she didn't know and she was trying to be a good friend, he did think for a few moments, he knew that he could speak in hypothetical's, but he also knew that she was smart, so he had to be very careful in the way that he worded things in the way that he spoke to them.

"okay fine, you want to help, help, but this is all purely hypothetical, are we clear" Jack responded firmly and Daniel held his hands up to show that he would, and Sam nodded with that smile, damn her, why did she have to be so perfect. "okay hypothetically there could be this girl, she likes me, she works here, she's got a boyfriend now, a complete moran, and i can never do anything about how i feel due to the rules, should i let her be happy, or should i tell her"

Daniel said let her be happy, but Sam surprisngly, had said to tell her, she saw his surprise, and she then said  "if we are still talking hypotheticals, i'll use myself as an example, if it were me, i'd want to know, what if she is making a mistake with this other guy because she knows who she wants is unobttainable, and she is simply settling, i think ou should always strive to be happy Sir, be truly happy, i say take a chance talk to her, i think she would appreciate it, hypothetically  speaking of course"

Jack was  actualy taken back and surprised by her answe, he hadn't expected that, she was of course talking about herself, she wasn't trying to drop hints, or make him feel bad, but she had dropped a big hint, without even knowing it, she was doubting her relationship with Pete, very clearly so, it was obvious and he picked up on that  there, was one word that he wanted to say to her, that she was AMAZING, that she was perfect in his eyes, but he would never do that, he wouldn't put her in an awkward position because frankly it wasn't fair on her was it.

"thank you Carter, that helped a lot actually, i didn't think that it would, but you and Daniel are actually very helpful, your advice i mean, i think that i should tell her, she deserves to know, how i feel, even if we can't do anything about it, at least that way we both know where we stand, and we aren't left wondering about what if's and i personally cannot stand being left waiting and that's exactly what i've been doing to her, and that's not fair on her at all"
