Other kids hate going to school, it's "hell" for them. But me? For me, school is my savior. It's six hours of being protected and staying away from home. Every year I'm forced to wear the same clothes: a light sweater, black worn-out shirt with a patched up pants. It's not much, but I take whatever my dad gives me. I remember I used to be teased through out school, but I don't care what people say. The only person who can affect me is my dad. His words hit me like bullets. Finishing dressing and doing my hair, I cautiously step out of my room and quietly head downstairs. I know better than not to wake up my dad. When he's done hitting me, he goes to his room and sleeps. I'm grateful for mornings and school, without them I know for sure my dad would have nothing better to do than hit me. After eating breakfast quietly, I wash the mess I made and head out the door. The difference between Maine and New York, is here I can have a-little bit of freedom to walk to school. Living in the city, my dad had to drive me to school. It was never fun driving with my dad because if anything pissed him off, he'd slap me or say it's my fault. I never done anything to upset my dad, but it's better to stay quite than argue with him.

Arriving at school, I start to put my walls up. Blocking and ignoring everyone is what I do best. Never have I let anyone into my life, and I never will. Pulling out my schedule the school has mailed me, I see that I have six classes in total. Skimming through it quickly, I see that I have Math first. Almost being trampled over, I finally find my math class. There weren't many people in here which I thanked God for, just the nerdy kids who arrive to class early. "Ah, hello. Are you..Ariel?" says a sweet little lady. This must be the teacher, she looks so nice and generous. I simply nod at her question and look down at my hands. I'm never one to look at people in the eye, only when I'm demanded to from my dad. "Well I'm Mrs. Martinez. Welcome to North Crest, you can have a seat in any of the desks. Class will be begin shortly." Mrs Martinez looked at me with pure admiration and smiled. Looking around, I find an empty seat near the back of the room. I walk over and sit down, the back of the room is my favorite place. It's like I'm invisible from the class and teacher, which is what I like. After a couple minutes of doing nothing, the bell rings announcing to students to get to class. A whole crowd of girls and boys come talking or laughing into class, some looking at me but none sparing me a second glance. The class was roaring with laughter and people just happy to see there friends again. I guess Mrs. Martinez doesn't know how to handle her class. And just when I was getting used to the noise, it became dead silent. Oh no, did they finally notice me? I'm not quite good at having the attention on me. Slowly picking up my head, I see the most beautiful and sexiest guy I've ever seen. Who is he and why did everyone suddenly stop talking because he walked in? I slowly chant in my head for him not to sit next to me, and once again God answered my prayers. Unfortunately though, a pretty blonde girl sat next to me. "Hi, I'm Stacy." said Stacy really cheerfully. I ignore her and hope she realizes that I don't want to talk. "Are you deaf?" Stacy now whispered to me, I shook my head no. "Then why won't you talk? OH MY GOD YOUR MUTE!" Stacy yelled and now, - now the whole class was staring. Especially the cute mysterious boy. I bite my lip and look down my hands. Great, now I'm the weird girl at school. Perfect way to start the school year. Not.

After suffering an hour in math, I run out of the class room and head to my locker. Since the school already provides us with materials, my locker was full with the books needed for my classes. "Your not mute, are you?" said a husky voice behind me. "You know," said the unknown person, now moving in front of me to revealing the cute mysterious boy, "I think your just not talking for a reason. But I'll make you scream my name soon." Trying not to melt at the sound of his voice, I merely roll my eyes at his remark. He leans close to me, inches away from my lips, "Don't worry princess, Landon Carter always gets what he wants. And what I want is, is for you to moan my name."

Will Ariel be able to resist Landon? Or will he make Ariel speak? ;)
