If I were to tell you, would you have believed it?
If not seen by the eyes, is it possible for you to imagine them,
Then let me tell you about the land where my father, my mother and all of their ancestors were born and raised.

It is a land that is arid and dry,
Where the dust following a stampede can be seen,
Where they load their camels and guide their goats,
Where the day sky is always blue and the glaring heat of the sun parches the ground beneath.

This is Baadiya, and its people are the Rer Baadiyo,
They are always on the move to escape the dry season,
Though they long for rain; for the security of the resounding thunder,
Where new ponds are formed and the grass grow tall, so that their animals feed.
