On his birthday, which just so happens to be his best friend's death-day, Stefan found a spell which allowed him to see Lexi again for the whole day.
24 lit candles placed in a circle.
They had a whole day to themselves and celebrated Stefan's birthday with drinks and Bon Jovi.
Every hour, one of the candles went out.
Once 23 of the candles were out, Stefan and Lexi sat in the middle of the circle.
Lexi picked up the last candle and held it up to Stefan.
"Make a wish".
He blew it out and the smoke filled the room.
When the smoke cleared, she was gone.
More of a prompt/drabble than a headcanon but...¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I headcanon myself as Lexi a lot (as Stef's best friend basically) so I have a lot of these churning in my brain.
