Choosing your baby's name is one of the biggest and most scary decisions of your life. What will your child be like? Will their name fit their personality? Will their name fit them at all stages of their life?
There are so many things to consider. You want your baby to have the perfect name for them. You want something both you and they will love for years to come. It can be a big decision, and its no secret that finding the right name can be stressful.
As an author, I have searched far and wide for names for my characters that fit them just perfectly, and I've now compiled a list of some of my favorites. Many of these names are ones that I have used, or plan on using in the future, and I believe they are great names to consider for your new addition to the family.
1. Ciel
Sky. Ciel is one of my favorite names, and the best part about it, is that it can be used for both a boy and a girl! I used it in my book WitchHunter for one of my main characters, who is just a total sweetheart and much more feisty than he looks! Use this name for a little one who you want to grow up wild and free.
2. Soren
Serious. Soren is a little used and hugely underappreciated boy name. I used in my book, Her White Eyes for a squad leader who is always steadfast and secure, leading his team to success time after time. Give this name to your little man who you want to be a strong shoulder to lean on, and someone who grows up to be a sturdy addition to the family.
3. Uri
My Light. I love the sound of this little boy name. Though it isn't a name I've used in a story... yet, its one a love so dearly and would maybe name my little boy this, if I have one. This name should belong to the little boy who is playful and bright, and the light of your life. He will grow into a young man who isn't afraid to shine his brightest.
4. Cozen
To trick or deceive. This name is quirky and has loads of nickname potential! I have used it in my book WitchHunter as one of my main characters. He is headstrong, and kind, albeit a little mischievous. Give this to a little boy who may have a wild streak, a child who may grow up to be a little scamp, and don't be surprised when he gets a little mischievous from time to time, as all little boys do.
5. Niran
Eternal. This boy name has a wonderful tone to it. This is another name I used in WitchHunter, for a rather ruthless teacher. Give this to your little man if you want him to grow up to be strong and fearless.
6. Eris
Chaos. This little girl name is perfect for your little warrior princess. This name has a royal ring to it, and any little girl endowed with a name this special will turn out truly unique. Use this name to raise up a little girl who wont take no for an answer, who will be strong and willing to fight for what she believes in.
7. Ace
Number one. This androgynous name is a sure way to show your baby that you love them more than anything. I used this as a sort of moniker for the main character in WitchHunter, a strong assassin with a dark past. Give this to a child you want to grow up to be strong and powerful, but have a soft side. Or, it can be used as a great nicknames for many A names, such as Alice.
8. Nesta
Pure. Nesta is a beautiful, unusual girl name. It sounds outdoorsy, so perfect for all the little girls who have an active, outdoors lifestyle. Give this to a girl who you can see running around in the woods, unafraid of the dark, and willing to take the risks that other little girls may not.
9. Astraea
Goddess of Innocence. Astraea is a beautiful baby girl name with an ethereal tone to it. Its the perfect name for a princess who you know will grow up into a beautiful queen. The delicate name will ensure her a bright future full of happiness and light.
10. Arran
High place. This name is a different take on Aaron, a biblical name. If you want a more unique twist to a common name, then this baby boy name could be a great fit! Give this to a little boy you want to grow up to be strong and independent.
11. Abarron
Ruler. Abarron is a gorgeous name for a little boy. I used it in my story, The Golden Wolf for the main love interest, a man who was the heir to his society before being cast away. This name is perfect for the boy who you want to be a great leader and friend.
12. Koa
Brave. This little boy name is from a pacific islander origin. It would make a spectacular middle name as well! The word is a direct translation of the word 'brave' so its a great way to give your little bundle of joy a head start in life.
13. Mishka
Little Bear. The Russian word makes a prefect androgynous name for your little one! Your baby is sure to grow up loving their name, and Mish serves as a perfect nickname to shorten it, if you feel the need to do so.
14. Kaliya
Snake who fought Vishnu. Kaliya is a little girl's name with a Hindi origin. I used it for the protagonist in my book, The Golden Wolf, for a strong girl with a past the built her up to be incredibly powerful. Plus, Kallie will make an amazingly cute nickname for your little one.
15. Honahlee
Honey. Honahlee is a warm sounding girl's name perfect for your sweet little miss. I used Honahlee in my book, Firefly, for my main character who found herself in a very dangerous situation. This name is the perfect fit for the sweetest girl around.
Choosing a name for your little one is one of the most important decisions in a person's life, because they are deciding something that will have consequences for their child's entire life. We all want what's best for our children, and we want to be able to give them the best life possible. A good name is a great place to start that journey, and ensure your child's success all the way through life.
