"You gonna ask her out?" asked Thomas to Sophie, with Lily by his side, sitting by the bay window. He took another gulp of the almost empty beer bottle, letting out a low burp which garnered a tut from Lily.
A wave of chilling breeze was beginning to creep through the open windows, pooling around Freddie and his friends, washing away the humidity that had clung to their skin.
Despite the sudden shiver that overcame him, Freddie wasn't about to complain about the sudden change in temperature, given that the entire town had been at the mercy of the unforgiving heat. It also was a great excuse for Freddie to cuddle up to August even more, claiming that he was getting chilly before tugging August over into his corner of the couch, letting his arms fall around the other boy, bliss melting onto Freddie's face, not wanting to let August go.
Lily, Thomas, and Sophie had made their way over to the window fifteen minutes ago, thankfully giving Freddie and August some privacy on the couch they'd claimed for themselves. Freddie mouthed a grateful 'thank you' to the trio when they'd made their move over, the pieces he'd set finally starting to fall into place.
He could feel his friends getting more loose with each sip of beer they'd taken; some more than others, judging by how Thomas had been throwing back drinks like they were going out of fashion. Not that any of them could blame him - he'd been through fucking hell tonight. If Freddie were him, he would've progressed onto tequila, or something stronger, by now.
The soft mellow beats of the playlist Lily had made floated gently around the living room, with August nodding his head in time with the melody of the song, softly singing along as Freddie's arms lay around him, mindlessly tracing patterns on his shirt. And each time Freddie would pass over his chest, he felt August's breath hitch for a split second.
"You good?" Freddie asked in a whisper, not wanting to lose any of the intimacy that was swimming around them.
He brushed his face against August's ear as he spoke, smirking ever so slightly as he felt August have a physical reaction to the warm breath that tickled his ear.
"Mmhmm," August mumbled, and Freddie could feel him back further up into Freddie's embrace. There was an endearing awkwardness to the way August moved himself, and it earned a light chuckle from Freddie. "What?"
Freddie shook his head, almost defensively, but his face betrayed him; a playful grin formed on his face as August turned his head back at him with narrowed, suspicious eyes.
"You impressed with yourself?" August asked, keeping his voice low. Freddie was taken aback by the sudden change in tone, not expecting him to sound so dominant.
But Freddie kept his cool, not letting August see him sweat even for a second. He continued mindlessly tracing his fingers against August's shirt, but this time, he inched his way further down his torso.
August tensed in his arms, breath hitched, and Freddie dragged his tongue over his lips coyly. Thoughts of August and him together ripped through the twisted corridors of Freddie's mind, zipping through and sending his brain into overdrive with excitement at the possibilities.
The entire world around them had long disappeared, only acknowledging each other and the thick, suffocating tension that was brewing between them, dancing around the two as it closed in around them. Freddie could feel the sexuality radiating from his caramel haired crush, and it was fucking intoxicating.
"I won't be impressed," Freddie started as he ducked his head down until his lips grazed delicately over the ridges of August's ear, "until I've got you crying out my name."
August almost choked on his own breath at those words, a visceral reaction taking his body by storm, his face flushing a deep red as a look of insatiable hunger and arousal crept onto his face.
The two boys locked eyes with one another and Freddie saw the dark flicker in August's eyes.
Freddie took a deep breath in through his nose as his fingers lightly grazed over August's groin, getting a strong lungful of August, of his warm, fruity, yet electric, scent. It was just as addicting as the sexuality that was pouring out from him, luring Freddie in, casting a hypnotic spell over him. A spell that Freddie never wanted to break or weaken.
"You wanna take this somewhere else?" Freddie asked lowly, placing a warm, soft kiss to the nape of August's neck, his hands moving in slow, discreet circles. It was taking everything inside of himself to not take August apart, on this very couch, in front of their friends.
And he could tell he wasn't alone in that - a string of choked, gentle moans began falling from August's lips as he slowly squirmed beneath Freddie's hands.
August eventually nodded, that hungry flicker in his eyes now having turned into a roaring flame, devouring everything in its path as he focused explicitly on Freddie and everything he'd promised to do.
Chuckling, Freddie tugged August to his side as he pushed himself up from the couch before reaching out his hand with an eagerness that his friends finally seemed to pick up on. Unfortunately.
"Do not, I repeat, do not get cum all over my sheets," came Lily's stern, motherly voice out of nowhere, startling the two guys.
Thomas snorted, throwing his head back as he laughed. Sophie quickly joined him after glancing over to Lily and noticing the serious expression painted across her face, like a parent who'd already warned her children about this in the past.
Freddie flipped the pair of them before diverting his attention to Lily. "That's gross, first of all. And secondly, we're not Tommy."
His comment silenced Thomas' laughter as their broad friend shot his head in their direction and narrowed his eyes at Freddie, before erupting into laughter once again.
"I mean it," Lily warned again as she stood up and started towards the corridor, grabbing the few empty beer bottles that had been discarded on the floor beside them, "I don't want to have to fumigate my room again."
August tugged at Freddie's arm, dipping his head past Freddie's shoulders until he came into view of the blonde-haired woman, "We'll behave."
Freddie would've chimed in, but in all honesty, he really didn't want to linger for a second longer; this was something months in the making, and they were both so close to being rewarded for their patience. Taking the lead, Freddie backed out of the room, bidding farewell to their friends as they finally disappeared from their watchful eyes.
"Finally," Freddie whispered, almost tripping over just one single word as he tried his best to not get too flustered. "Got you all to myself, baby."
August's mouth curled up into a smirk as he entwined his fingers with Freddie's.
"About fucking time."
Things were only just heating up between them, and Freddie knew they'd both waited long enough. It was time for that spark to grow into an unstoppable, rageful fire that no one would be able to extinguish.
The boys hurried by the front door before heading up the stairs, both taking two at a time, with Freddie getting an eyeful of August's ass, the tight black jeans hugging him in all the right places.
But little did they know, that just outside of the front door, stood a darkened figure. Peering through the stained glass windows, the shadow remained still as it watched them. Waiting to make a move.
And it looked like that perfect moment was now.
