Alex's POV

I let every smell and feeling settle in. The relief of just being in this home felt better than anything I could imagine. I use to feel safe here, like it was my mother and I. Nothing could touch us.

I used to think that.

Now I know that was false feelings. Things I had thought I knew were wrong. My brain was wrong. I was in love with a rapist and my mothers murderer. A man I killed and the man that I should be in love with is the one I despise most. What was wrong with me?

Everything. I know that.

Time to get over yourself Alex. Pick yourself up and get your shit in a row.

The ducks are there just got to get them in order. I finally stood up from the floor and walked over to the dining room table and dumped everything from the parcel on it. There was a passport a new ID and bank cards with the paperwork for everything. There was also a smaller parcel in there.

I pulled it out and shook it. I heard two different noises. One sounded like it was a set of keys and another that sounded like it something smaller.

I pulled them both out and it was in fact another set of keys. Car keys. The other item was a ring. What looked like a wedding ring.

A wedding ring.

From Antonio Costa.

I placed the ring instantly on my ring finger and it was a perfect fit. Two urges suddenly filled me. One of them was to immediately rip it off. How could I keep a ring from the man who got my mother killed and ruined my whole life and everything I know about it, and the other was to keep it on because he truly didn't ruin my life and I did have chances to leave and I chose to stay because I wanted him and I wanted to be in this life with him.

Conflicting I know.

I pulled my phone out and went to the text between Antonio and I.

Apart of me wanted me to call him and beg him to come over and another part of me wanted to just scream.

I decided against both and walked to the garage with the set of car keys. Opening the door I saw a brand new all black Cadillac with dark tinted windows with a note on the windshield. "Late Birthday. Sorry. Enjoy." Without a name where it came from even though I knew.

Tony.

I walked back into the house and decided I was going to need to get cleaned up and dressed. It was time to go for a drive.

Antonio's POV {A year later}

"Mr Costa would you mind looking over these documents from the Broach account. I'm having a difficult time trying to file and categorize them. They just don't make sense to me"

I spent most of my time at the office with Emma. The girl was sweet. She became a nice addition to the office. She got along with everyone including the clients and that was the most important thing.

This year had been a roller coaster from hell. My brother and Jamie were no longer around. I was thankful for that. Lorenzo stated him and Jamie needed to move on with their lives without me in it and I couldn't agree more. My business was doing better than ever. Including the mafia side of things. Since Marcos was murdered, we have only had to deal with a few of his fake ass soldiers trying to "avenge" their beloved boss. I did my best to begin to let Justin handle most of that.

A year of putting your life back together brought a new aspect on my life.

I motioned for her to bring her laptop over to my desk. "These documents aren't from the Broach account Emma. I states at the very top of the file it is from the Junora." She sighed loudly out of frustration and apologized walking back to her desk.
