Ashley's POV
As I was about to eat my food that I had prepared I heard a bang from somewhere upstairs. I groaned before putting my food down and walked upstairs.I followed the noise and it led to my room. My eyebrows furrowed. Nobody could have possibly gotten in. I twisted the door knob then quickly pulled my hand away. The handle was bone-chillingly cold.
I pulled my long black sleeve over my hand and grabbed the door knob again and tried to push the door open, but it wouldn't budge.
The banging on the other side started to get louder and sounded almost violent.
My heart picked up as I heard a deep male voice whispering in my ear.
"It's behind you."
I spun around quickly and put my fists up for devense, but nothing was there. Then there it was again a split second later, behind my back.
"It's always behind you."
Just like before I jumped around and was faced with nobody.
The loud pounding still continued on the other side of the door, but seemed to be getting increasingly violent. The door flung open and the noise stopped.
My room was how I left it. It hadn't been touched. I cautiously stepped inside. Was that all in my imagination? I do have to take pills and it messes me up sometimes, but my hallucinations haven't been this bad before. I can't tell my parents about this, they'd think I was crazy.
I took a few more steps into my room, still cautious and my shoulders were tense. I jumped as I heard the door slam behind me. I ran to the heavy oak door and tried to open it, but to no avail. The lights then flickered and turned off.
If I wasn't terrified before, I was then. I heard a sliding noise and look over to see the large, fire-exit window opening and I felt drawn to it, like I was in some kind of spell. My whole body felt cold and it felt like I couldn't control it as I slowly started stumbling over to the open window.
I felt like I couldn't breath, which was making me dizzy, but I felt no sense of panic.
I carefully sat on the window, my legs dangling over the edge. I looked down at the ground, then suddenly, like a slap to the face I came to my senses. What the fuck am I doing? I then felt freezing hands on my back.
"Goodbye, Ashley." That same male voice from earlier spoke in a soft, but somehow still menacing voice.
