Prologue

The Beginning Of Never

Some would say that the story of Peter Pan started with a boy breaking and entering into a home and then proceeding to lose his shadow, then by some stretch he convinces Wendy Darling and her brothers to go to Neverland with him but this is not that story. This is a story about the founder of the most magical place that we see in the story Peter Pan.

The story of one Charlotte Martel who for all intents and purposes was not supposed to past infanthood. She conquered through her family's strife and found safe passage to Japan where she then conquered death and became one with magic.

Rome, Italy 1382

Run...

RUN...

Running was the only thing she could do. Stomping through the crowded streets of Rome trying desperately to get away from her pursuers. How do I get away? What should I do? She thought running faster and faster; knocking down barrels and vendors in the way hoping desperately that it would slow them down somehow.

"Stop in the name of the Lord! You are under arrest for the murder of Lady Joanna, come back now and face the consequences Demon." The pope's men exclaimed, gaining speed; fingers reaching out to grab the back of the girl's cloak.

She jumped up racing over the vendors table, grabbing and throwing anything she can find back at the idiots following her. The girl jumped after successfully hitting two of the men with a pineapple and a canteen of water; hopping onto the veranda and hauling herself up onto the roof with a grunt. She beheld in the direction of the ground conspicuous eye contact with the spearhead of the men chasing her.

'What was going through these guys' heads?' The girl thought to herself still running, hoping desperately to make it to the port out of Rome.

"I do not believe I will be facing such consequences, sir." She says with a laugh, running towards the docks, searching tirelessly for a ship that could take her away from this place.

"For your information, sir; I did not kill the lady. I was nowhere near her as you can see, I'm not from here!" She exclaims chuckling, readying herself to jump onto the nearest gondola off the port. The boat rocking from the force of her jump. The seemingly 17 year old finally steadied herself glancing back to the port as the pope made their way towards her.

"Or well I guess I was from Naples. Tell me does the name Charlotte Martel mean anything to you?" the young woman asked, black charcoal locks falling into piercing emeralds glaring daggers at the Catholic that tried to accuse her of killing her own mother.

She glanced down momentarily at the deep encroaching waters surrounding her and her little gondola, waves crashing around her, moving her deeper into its waiting embrace.

The men on the dock were absolutely shocked by the question. How the hell could this seventeen-year-old girl be the late queen's daughter. That couldn't be possible. She was swept away to Hungary during the raid on Lady Joana's life. It's just not probable. She would have to be immortal to look that young.

"Believe what you want but what I say is the truth. Queen Joanna is my mother and I am Charlotte Martel; my own cousins killed my mother. Why do you not go after them?" The girl, no Charlotte, says with enough conviction to force an entire army to fight for her. She grits her teeth and turns around, compelling the gondola further out into the blue waters, the voices of the pope shouting after her in complete denial of her claim.

Not that it matters anyhow because soon she will be away from these blasted people. She will finally be able to start anew with a diverse family that she will help mold into a family worthy of being proud of. She just needs to find those specific people first.

After settling herself down on the small rocking gondola in the middle of the ocean, Martel pulls a sturdy rock out of her trouser pockets. She sets the earth coloured rock gingerly into the ocean and says, "O, great Deities of the Naaborwol tribe, lend me your power so that I may build a home for creatures and lost people to coerce and be happy."

The rock glows an array of colours before a bright white light happens around the sudden area. Martel covers her eyes against the light just to open them seconds later to see a beautiful, magical island in place of where the rock once stood. She then puts up a powerful magical barrier to keep unwanted people out. People who do not believe in the wonders of magic or see magic as evil.

The barrier holds with the power of faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust. Hidden deep within the Bermuda triangle, where Fairies, Mermaids, Indians and the like live on this Island called Never; thanks to one Charlotte Martel. The immortal Queen who split her soul to live with kindness, and happiness. Martel locked her other half (the darker side) up in a secluded part of Never. Now known as the shadow land.

Where shadows roam and hunt, preying on the sweet and innocent, those who are in desperate need of help with catastrophic devices and to cause harm to those less fortunate than themselves.

Now let us get to a story many years into the future when Martel now known across Never as Lottie with her new friend Peter at her side and a commander called Killian Jones, comes into a catastrophic new time of friendship, love, betrayal, and don't forget that one Happily ever after.
