The room was fairly silent. Rain hit against the window, fingers frantically clicked keys, and there was a heavy tension in the air.

A slip-up. The thing that causes the ruin of the silence is a mere slip-up. She didn't put on the bear mask in time. And unfortunately, night 5 gave no mercy.

The scream that came from the broken purple animatronic was loud, though the girl's scream was louder. Her screams immediately went quiet though, as she heard a loud cackle coming from the person she was calling.

She switched to her discord tab. "You got jumpscared, didn't you?" The person asks, and the girl opens her mouth to respond, but wasn't given a chance to. "Don't answer that, I already know. One point goes to Marz, oh yeah!" 'Marz' exclaims, and the girl huffs. "Yeah well, Five Nights at Freddy's 2 sucks anyways! The first game is where it's at." She says, not feeling as disappointed as she should've been at losing a point.

"What's that? That's the sound of a LUZer! BOOM!! See the joke I made? Cause your name's Luz?" Marz laughs like they just made the world's best joke ever. And honestly, Luz can't help but laugh as well. Jokes always were funny, bad or not. "So, what's our next game? I wont let you win this time!" Luz exclaims, and Marz hums in thought.

Suddenly though, an alarm rings on Marz's side of the call. "Oh, shoot! I gotta get ready for my first day of High school!" They say, and Luz can hear a lot of moving on the line. "Oh right, you reminded me too! I better get going before I accidentally oversleep!" Luz replies, sitting up from her bed. "Alright! Talk to you tomorrow, Luz!" Marz exclaims, and Luz was able to respond with a simple 'see ya' before the call was ended. Luz got up to prepare for the night.

The next day, she'd be starting her first day of high school. She didn't know what to expect, so she decided to go ask her mom. And so, she walked out the room, leaving her phone on the bed, turned on. And it buzzed.

Marz texted her. "Goodnight :3", it read. Emoticons, it was Marz's favorite thing to use. Easy to convey emotions through. Easy to use.

Though it was a bit difficult for her to use right now. How exactly do you convey love through emoticons? The <3 thing? Could be seen as platonic. That's not what she wanted to convey.

Marz — which was the online name she went by, she was more commonly known as Marcy — sighs, as she flops onto her bed. High school. She had high school the next day. She probably wouldn't have enough time to talk to Luz because of it, so who knows what this meant for their friendship. Or relationship. Whatever they had.

Friendship. That's all they had. Geez, Marcy had to stop getting confused over that. They were just friends.

Maybe it was stupid. Was it? Was it stupid to be in love with your online best friend? Hell, she didn't even know how Luz looked like. They've called almost every single day in summer, and if they didn't call they texted, a lot, but they've never seen each other's faces.

Maybe it was a bit shitty. Shitty to like your online best friend, who's already in a relationship. Amity, was her name? It was a sweet name. Her and Amity have never talked, but she's heard Amity in the background of her and Luz's calls. Luz has talked about her a lot too. Marcy didn't want to be a home wrecker and ruin their relationship.

Marcy then flinches as she feels her phone vibrate on her chest. She immediately sits up, and turns it on. Luz had replied. "Buenas noches <3" It read. Marcy's face immediately brightens. She smiles at her phone, at Luz's message, rereading it as many times as her heart desires.
