Hey readers! TYSM everyone for reading this book, it means so much to me. Damn, 20 reads already. It may seem little but it's a lot to the writer. Here's chapter 2. Enjoy!
Nevaeh pov
The blasting music comes to a stop as we reach my mother's house. She lives in a single floor, 3 bedroom house. It's a small yet spacious house. We climb out the car and I go over to help Ammy out the other side, but she just waves me off. Mom unlocks the front door while we get our bags from the car. We enter the house and place our bags in our normal room we use for when we have girls nights here. My mom told us in the car earlier that we can pack our things into the cupboards since we'll be here for three days. I start unpacking and Ammy walks into my room staring at her phone in a daze. I rush to her and set her on my bed, moving my clothing and bag out the way.
"What's up Ammy? And what happened earlier? What caused you to faint like that?" I ask, concern and worry laced in my voice.
"It's Aiden." she says, bursting into tears. Aiden is Ameera's boyfriend. They have been together for five months now and ever since I met him I always had a weird vibe from him.
"What did he do now?" I ask angrily.
"I caught him cheating on me with Taylor last week and I confronted him today. I gathered evidence this past week, that's why I've been so distracted lately." she says. She closes her eyes for a moment then continues; "I was on the phone with him before you woke up. When I confronted him I told him that I had evidence. He then admitted that he'd been cheating, and-" she breaks off sobbing. I held her for a moment before letting her continue. "He said that he'd been cheating for a month now and was glad that I found out so that he could be with his new lover. He said that he never really loved me and wanted to make Taylor jealous and to make her notice him. He said that I was ugly and he regretted ever dating me." she finishes, crying even more now. She buries her head into my shoulder as I rub her back.
"Quella cagna!" exclaims my mother from the doorway. Ammy starts gigging through her tears at my mother and I just shake my head at her. "He doesn't know what he gave up to be with quel pezzo di merda" she says. "Mama, just because you are swearing in Italian doesn't mean that you aren't swearing." I say laughing. "Girl don't tell me what to do." she says. "Ameera, he didn't know what he had till he lost it. If he comes back crying just give me a call and I'll sort him out for you. It'll spare you the effort." she says smirking. "I'll keep that in mind mama." says Ammy. She looks at my mom in shock, realizing what she had done and starts rambling; "I'm so sorry Zo! I wasn't thinking. I didn't mean to-" she gets cut off by my mother. "My child, I don't care what you call me." she comes forward to embrace Ammy and wipe her tears. "I have always been like a mother to you and you have always been my other daughter. You are free to call me mom or mama. I don't care." my mother says happily. "Okay mama." Ammy says smiling at her words. "Enough with the sulking. Time for lasagna!" shouts my mother as she starts running to the kitchen. Ammy and I look at each other and back at the door. We jump off the bed and start sprinting towards the kitchen so we can get the first scoop. She shoves me to the floor, leaving me in her dust as she continues into the kitchen.
"Haha, you suck! I got here first." she says in victory. I sit on the bar-stool next to her. "That's because you shoved me out the way you piece of shite." I say, rolling my eyes. "Keep rolling your eyes and they'll stay like that forever." says my mom, placing plates in front of us and one on the other side of Ammy for herself. She then dishes us each a big scoop of lasagna. She hands each a fork and we dig in.

"Thirds anyone?" asks my mother hungrily. "Mama we just finished seconds." I complain. "More for me." say my mom and Ammy in sync. We all burst out laughing, but are cut short by the doorbell ringing. "Coming!" shouts my mom as she gets up to answer. Ammy goes to dish herself and my other some more lasagna. "While you're up can you dish me some more please?" I ask kindly. "I thought you weren't hungry" she says smirking and grabs my plate to dish more. She turns around to give me my plate and she freezes. Her eyes widen. I give her a confused look and she indicates for me to turn around. I turn around to see the man that I haven't seen in 18 years.
My father.
"Father?" I ask shocked. "Yes Nevaeh, it's me." he says. His thick Italian accent loud and clear. "Hello Ameera." he greets emotionlessly. "Hello sir." she cautiously greets back. She knows about us being part of the mafia because she is too. Calix Venezia is her brother. She changed her surname to her mothers maiden name once she moved here with us after her mother died. "Your father is looking forward to seeing you dear." he says bluntly. All colour drains from her face. "As for you two, I have come to inform you about your upcoming weddings. You both will get married to the men whom I have chosen as appropriate for you." he says. My face drains from colour as I look towards Ameera who is standing there in pure shock. He continues, "Neveah will be marrying the future right-hand-man, Calix Venezia. Ameera will be marrying my son, Elijah Lorenzo. There is no room for arguments. The arrangements have been settled. You are to get married in six months, giving you enough time to finish your studies. I will be leaving now, goodbye." He walks out the room and leaves, slamming the front door behind him. Leaving us all to process what just happened.
