Melanie Malfoy is just like any other 15-year-old girl, she goes to school, she has a best friend, and she has a crush. A crush whose presence consumes her and it has for years, but that's not the worst part. He hates her, he hates her because when you hear the name Malfoy you think of her parents, or her twin brother Draco, who have made nothing but bad reputations for themselves. People never took the time to get to know her, in their minds they already did. How wrong they were. Her crush was one of those people, a boy who had fought with her brother in the past and whose family had feuded with hers for generations.

Her crush was Fred Weasley.

She woke up with a jolt and shot up like she had been struck.
"It was just a dream," She said to herself wiping the sweat off of her forehead with the back of her hand.

The clock read 4:37 am. She has been having nightmares for months now, and just as soon as it is about to happen she wakes up.

She wipes her eyes and got out of bed, "There was no point trying to go back to sleep" She thought, so she dressed as quietly as she could trying not to wake the others and was about to leave her dorm when she remembered her bag.

As she walked down the spiral staircase to her common room she noticed that nobody was around, it was just how she liked it. But today she had things to do so no reading quietly beside the fire. She crept out of the room and through the icy cold hallways until she reached her destination, The Greenhouse.

She drew her bobble hat out from her bag and pulled it over her head, you would think after 5 years she would have gotten used to Scottish winters. She opened the glass door and walked to the back of the greenhouse, she fed her Fanged Geraniums, said good morning to the baby mandrakes and set off again.

It is December 18th and not only is she being told to stay at Hogwarts over Christmas but she wants to, something is going on with her parents, and she doesn't like it.

It's been an hour and there are a few more faces in the hallways now, none paid her any attention, they knew exactly who she was and stayed away. Visibly she was every bit a Malfoy as Draco, the Platinum hair and breathtaking blue eyes. Megan wasn't awake yet, Merlin knows on a weekend she sleeps in well past breakfast, so she went alone. Then to the library, then the owlery, then finally the quidditch pitch, not that she could play, she was more of a watcher. Saturday mornings just happened to be the time the Gryffindors had morning training and she got there just in time. What a happy coincidence?.

She pretends to read her book, she can't keep her eyes off of the beaters in scarlet. The way they swiftly glide through the air or the way they effortlessly hit the balls and send them soaring through the hoops.

If she hadn't been watching the practice she wouldn't have noticed Katie Bell sending a bludger hurling towards her and missing her by inches.

"Watch yourself Malfoy!" An unmistakable voice shouted from high in the air

It wasn't shouted in a kind way, to address the fact that she was nearly hit, it was said in a way almost blaming her for being there in the first place.

Now it was so cold not even her hat is keeping the warmth in so she began descending the stands just as the players sank from their posts above. They marched past her giving her glairs and muttering under their breaths about her, this never bothered her before, she had gotten used to it by now. At least Draco could defend himself, she'd seen him throw a fair few punches but she was the Malfoy that never snapped back. So when a shoulder collided with her sending her off balance, she wasn't all too surprised, what took her breath away was however who it was. She saw the back of the culprit's jersey

WEASLEY

It was Fred.

Some days Melanie didn't know what she resented most, being a Malfoy or being a Slytherin.
