Weakness

Chapter 3: Nothing but a coward.

The house is dark except for the kitchen light downstairs, Eyes's heart dropped, it's Iro.
Well at least the apology won't have to wait long.
They arrived at the kitchen entrance and watched.
Iro was sitting criss crossed on the chair at the table. He was making a sandwich, a big one, nothing out of the ordinary though, Eyes almost smiled. He seemed lost in his own head.
Eyes entered making their presence noticeable. The young man lifted his head so fast he almost gave himself a whiplash. A confused look appeared on his face.

-"Oh...Heyyyyy Eyes." The god in question advanced to sit down at the table, facing directly Iro. They sighed calmly and looked at him and went straight to the point.
-"I'm sorry for earlier, I was not feeling like myself and I shouldn't have talked to you like that. I was-"
-"Angry, yeah don't worry about it..." Iro cut them off smiling.
"I know you didn't mean to, hell I know you're not like that so I'm not mad."

Eyes fell silent, the human then took the opportunity to finally ask all the questions he had stuck in his head for hours. His face became more serious.
-"Where were you? Don't say a dangerous place. And why is stuff missing on your desk?"
Before Eyes could respond he continued:
-"Let's go to the heart of it shall we? What is happening to you?" He was being demanding he knows it but he's sick and tired to always know the god's doings later when it's too late.
It's not his fault anymore, he can't help it. He just wants to know Eyes, not their just their present self but who they were before. They are not 2100 and more years old and have nothing to say.
He saw a breach and decided it was his chance.

The god noticed the way Iro talked, his tone is somewhat harsh.
-"I was in a village pretty far, Fernhom, it took me half the night to get there. That's it. About the stuff missing, it's in a bag in my room..."

-"Why?"  The pale boy asked, frowning.
-"Because I plan on going back, I went there without my bag once to make sure the stuff I needed was actually in the city." Eyes needed rare herbs for potions, they had heard they could find some at a low price in this town.
-"Bullshit." He said. That made the god's eyes widen.
-"Huh?" They blinked. "You think I'm lying?"
-"Yeah because first why didn't you leave a note? Second, why did you come back...like that. Again, what happened to you?" The human was starting to get mad, for a reason this time.

The god felt faint, better be honest, right? Right...
-"I didn't think it would take all night, I got distracted by something and it made me feel weird. There."
Eyes couldn't tell Iro what they saw, if there's one thing Iro knows about their past it's this. Knowing the young man, if he learned what happened he's going to run without thinking and get hurt, really bad.
The god prefers to take care of that themselves, after all it's what they need to do.

Iro felt pushed back, again, why aren't they saying everything? What is so important that he doesn't deserve to hear it? Is he not good enough in the god's eyes?

-"What was it then? What did you see?" He almost begged.
-"I wasn't lying when I said it's a dangerous place not because of the population but for a few new habitants, I prefer to take care of that." Eyes answered, they gave a long sigh. Tell him what's happening to you at least.
"I'm dealing with myself, my past self to be exact and honestly I've had enough tonight, I don't want to talk about it anymore. I mostly wanted to apologize to you." Eyes smiled feeling sorry but drained. They got up and made their way to the fridge.

Iro froze, no, no this is not happening again, I'm not fragile. Fuck that. He felt angry.
-"Are you fucking kidding me Eyes? Stop treating me like a baby!"
-"I'm not."
-"Yes you are! Every time it's like this, oh something dangerous you should not go you're not strong enough or you'll get hurt bla-bla-bla, fuck that. Like come on am I not enough in your eyes? Say it." He got up from his chair to face the god.
Eyes was confused by the outburst, they started to panic, oh no, did I say something wrong?
-"No. I won't."
-"You're a coward, the great god of chaos is scared of some dumb little people that are potentially threats. Wow." Iro's voice raised.
