Icicles melted outside the bedroom window. Their gentle drips tapped against the window pane as sunlight illuminated the cozy room. The only other sound in the bedroom was the soft slipping of lips. They laid facing each other with heavy quilts pulled up to their shoulders. Neither were fully awake and their eyes were still closed but that didn't stop them from laying small kisses on each other's face.
Louis brought their joined hands to his lips and kissed Harry's knuckles. "I can't believe we've been here for two whole nights. That we're on Day Three."
Harry pressed his lips to Louis' forehead. "I know. It's been...amazing."
"Mmhmm. I hope Oscar can't come until tomorrow."
"We'll see. Looks sunny outside."
Louis rolled on top and buried his face in Harry's neck. He murmured, "Good morning," in a growly, grumbled voice. Harry smiled wide but kept his eyes shut as he stretched his legs straight. Louis kissed the point at the back of his jaw. "Gimme a pit, would you?"
Harry's roughened laugh bounced around the quiet room. He bent his arms to rest behind his head. Louis nestled his face in the nook beside his nipple, the soft burgundy fabric below his nose tinged with the warm spiciness of Harry's natural scent. Harry pulled the quilts up until they laid on the back of Louis' head. He heard Louis hum deeply and nuzzle him, his smile growing wider. "Cozy enough for you?"
"Mmm." Louis ran his hand up Harry's flank. The soothing passes of palm on t-shirt was the only sound for a long moment. "How are we ever going to go back to real life? When we can't just start fooling around whenever we want or sleep in every day?"
"Well, we have the benefit of both being freelancers. We can make our schedules work for us."
"True."
"And we usually work from home. Easy peasy if we want to fool around for a bit."
"I'm sure Celia will enjoy our new lack of deadlines when we tell her we're too busy blowing each other to worry about calendars."
Harry laughed as he slid his hand up the back of Louis' oversized jumper. He dragged his fingertips down the small of his back. Louis shivered into him. Harry nuzzled his hair, tucking his fingertips in the waistband of his sweats. "And now that you see how beneficial a holiday can be, where you don't work the entire time, we'll have to take some trips."
"Trips, hm?"
"I've been bookmarking bed and breakfasts, boutique inns, and restaurants for months with you in mind"
"That sounds lovely. I might have some ideas too. Don't want you to have to do all the work planning."
"What are your thoughts on costumed murder mystery dinners?" Louis groaned and Harry chuckled. "I promise that no escape rooms are on my bookmarks list."
Louis tipped his head up and rested his chin on Harry's chest. They smiled at each other, Louis stroking the side of his neck. The morning sunlight softened their messy bedhead and the crinkles beside their eyes. His touch wandered to Harry's face, Harry's warm palm circling the small of his back. "If you want to do it, love, we can do it. I'm up for anything."
Harry's smile went a bit uneven, a bit more mischievous, as he reached to the side, Louis' gaze following his reach. Plastic crinkled under Harry's hand while he plucked two mint jelly leaves out of a plastic bag. Harry found the snack in Timmy's basement on Day One and brought it upstairs during their Christmas movie marathon. They promptly became addicted to the minty treats and snuck the bag into Timmy's bedroom along with a bag of Hershey kisses while wine drunk. Little did they know it would become a new tradition in such a short time.
