After the fight in Yunping city the entire cultivation world had come to know about the deception of Jin Gungyao.

Even the commoners who'd keep to themselves quickly learnt about the Guanyin temple that was brought down by the excessive resentful energy of none other than the fierce ghost of Chiefeng Zun (The red blade master) that was awakened after he finally came face to face with his murderer. It was so bad that even after the Yiling Patriarch and Hangun Zun had sealed the coffin it temporarily, it took hundreds of famous and powerful cultivators to finally bury it 20 ft under a mountain.

The story of Jin Gungyao's family betrayal, the murder of his father, his incestuous marriage, the devious plotting and killing of Jin Zixuan and Jang Yanli and most gruesome of all the murder and mutilation of Chiefeng Zun, where now a common knowledge.

As a result of these events there was chaos in the cultivation world. There was a sudden surge in illicit activities. The less powerful cultivators had now moved to the dark arts. Cults of people practicing evil music of the donyin region were now surfacing, every little disputes waa now being settled with the forbidden curses, like the thousand holes curse used by Su Min Shan on Jin Zixun. The clash between the cultivation families and the common cultivators was the worst ever.

All of this was the result of the most revered position of Chief Cultivator being empty. After the death of Lian Fang Zun - Jin Gung Yao there was no suitable person available to take this position in the all the 4 main clans. Jin clans main branch had only one successor left and he was a teenager. Jang clan had the infamously short tempered and strict Jang Cheng but he was now busy looking after both Jang and Jin clan, being the only living guardian of the future clan leader Jin Ling. The namby-pamby leader of Nie clan was never even on the list, everyone knew his capacity of handling a conflict was worse than even Jin Ling. There was Zewun zun, Lan clan leader, only one of the three sun shot campaign heroes alive and the most powerful figure in the cultivation world right now. But his disinterest in the world of politics was well known. He had denied this position before and there was no doubt he would deny it again.

This meant that now there was finally a chance that someone from the smaller clans could be elected as the Chief Cultivator.

An assembly was held at JinLinTai (Carp Tower). All the sect leaders from various clans had come in high spirits. As the elder of the four main clans Lan Qiren conducted the meeting.

"Thank you all for coming on such short notice" he said, "As you all know currently we don't have a chief cultivator. But since the four main clans have already shown disinterest in acquiring this position we invite you all to nominate the best candidates for this job..."

There was a loud murmur, people were busy developing strategies. Amongst the various voices one voice spoke out loudly yet hesitantly, " Ah Um.. there is still one member from the main clans, who has not been consulted yet," said Nei Huisang whose timid voice was surprisingly clear enough that it got everyone's attention.

"Sorry for the bluntness, Clan leader Nei Huisang. But I think this position would be way out of your league" remarked Clan leader Yao and few members laughed out loudly while others smirked.

"No no clan leader Yao. You misunderstand me! I can hardly look after my own people, leading the whole cultivation world would be too ambitious even for me" causing Clan leader Yao to blush in embarrassment.

"I meant there is still a worthy candidate amongst the main clans who is perfect for this position.." everyone looked around in confusion.

"Well, who else is better suited for this role other than Second Young master of Lan clan, Hangun zun?"

There was a pin drop silence. Ofcourse how did anyone forget, there was still Hangun Zun. He was indeed the most powerful cultivator of their time. There was no living person known to have won against him in either archery or sword fighting or even cultivation power.
