"Violet Crusader! Blood Witch! Halt! You're surrounded, if you have any shred of honor left, you will surrender yourselves peacefully. You have three minutes. Consider this a mercy" A deep, phlegmy voice commanded. Fat chance of that happening. - "So what's your plan, tall dark, and scary? Because I'm not exactly the tactical type." Alice asked, sitting down with her legs hanging off the edge. Metis relayed to my HUD the amount of soldiers and vehicles they had within the immediate area. 500 soldiers, 6 tanks, 12 LAVs and 1 VTOL. Those odds were rather stacked against us. I guess it wouldn't be a glorious battle to the death if it weren't. The Alsha empire was going to fight to the bitter end to prevent every last bit of their power from being lost.
- "You still have that magnetic device?" I asked. She fished for something in a satchel she had on her and pulled a device out. - "You mean this one." She said, tossing it down to me. - "Thank you sunshine. I'll be sure to give it back." I said, fitting it around my right wrist. "I'll distract them by giving these idiots something to shoot at, you do what you can," I told her. - "If I may. I might be able to interface with the device. I'm not sure if I can make it more powerful, but It's possible I can boost its range with your armor's power source." Metis suggested. I nodded in confirmation.
- "Your three minutes are almost up. Surrender or be annihilated by the holy firepower of Mubra'kur!" The commander boasted. If it's annihilation he wanted, that's what I'll give him. I started walking forward, the beating of my heart filled my ears and was pounding like a jackhammer. "So you've chosen death. Open fire..." I aimed the device at his tank, cutting his order off. The tank began slowly crumpling as it was dragged to me. I ran to it, put my hands underneath, and flipped the 25-ton vehicle up. They all began firing on my position, trying not to hit their commander. I stabbed my blade into the bottom and lifted the tank straight up.
I tossed their commander's white, statuesque tank at the other one in front of me. They made a loud metallic crunch as they crashed against each other. Pieces of alabaster broke off and lay shattered on the ground. I ran and jumped onto the two stacked tanks, springboarding off of them onto a large group of soldiers. Several of them froze up, allowing me to close the distance and cut them down mercilessly. I ran through them like they were cardboard cutouts, their bodies became broken and mangled as my body impacted them with soul-crushing speed. I had been charging my plasma cannon during my bullrush, giving it time to build up power. it had reached 50 percent. I leaped into the air and fired a bolt at the two tanks. They detonated in a flash of blinding red plasma.
It was raining down molten slag over the yard. I had quickly become target number one on their shit list, hopefully, this was giving Alice enough time to break havoc on them from within their lines. But this wasn't enough, I had to step it up. I need to stop holding myself back and push myself as far as this armor will let me. I needed to move like a bullet train through them if I wanted to stand a chance against their sheer overwhelming firepower, and then return with my own. I was going to show them what the full power of this armor truly is.
Innumerable bullets and explosive ordinance rained down on my position with little to no qualms about friendly fire, causing untold destruction to their city. As I darted around their positions, moving at speeds I could barely control and keep up with myself. I ran through a building, making my way to the second floor, grabbing a large metal door. I knew it would make an excellent shield. With my clawed hand buried into the door, I ran into a soldier and out of the building onto one of the armored vehicles, tipping it over. I threw the door at a soldier, slicing him in half, and then I moved behind the APC.
- "We are hopelessly outnumbered Damien, this is not an optimal situation to be in. The chances of this ending in all of our deaths is well... I don't think I need to tell you the math, but it's unlikely we'll survive this fight." Metis said, not sounding confident in our chances. I didn't blame her, but this was our only chance of striking these zealots head-on and putting an end to their empire. - "I know the odds are terrible but...as long as we all work together, we can at least give them one hell of a bloody nose." I said. - "Okay. I just hope you have some kind of plan?" She asked me. - "Don't worry, I have a plan. But the thing is, I'll need your help to warn me of any incoming attacks. Promise, okay?" I asked her. - "I promise." She said, nodding in agreement. I nodded back.
